Another day, another round of TCA stuff.
Peacock, NBC’s new streaming service would like to introduce itself:
HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT PEACOCK YOU GUYS:
It launches on April 15 for Comcast Xfinity X1 and Flex Customers and July 15 for the rest of us suckers. And there will be three subscription levels:
Peacock Free: Next day NBC programming, complete classic series, news including 2020 election coverage, some movies, some sports including Olympics, Spanish-language programming and some – but not all – original programming.
Peacock Premium: Free to Comcast and Cox subscribers, $4.99 a month with ads for everyone else. With this, you get all the original programming, NBC stuff, early access to late night*, and additional sports, including the Premier League soccer, (which means I’ll probably be forced to subscribe to this one).
Peacock Premium Ad-Free: All of the above for $9.99 a month and none of the ads.
*The early access to late night feature is reportedly a surprise to local stations who pay good money for NBC content. Keep an eye on this one.
And here are some of the original series you won’t have full access to if you don’t pay them good money.
- There’s going to be a MacGruber series you guys.
- Girls5Eva, a girl group comedy from Tina Fey.
- Division One, a college soccer comedy from Amy Poehler.
- Expecting, a family comedy from Mindy Kaling.
- Punky Brewster is definitely happening.
- Laverne Cox is going to star in a comedy called Clean Slate.
- The Adventure Zone, an animated Dungeons and Dragons-related comedy.
- Hatching Twitter, an anthology series about tech companies.
In addition to all that, Yellowstone will stream on Peacock (despite being a Viacom/CBS production), they’ve signed a deal with Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud network, they have a deal for the Law & Order and Chicago series’ library and they bought both George Lopez and Two and a Half Men.
AMC (along with sister companies BBC, Sundance, and IFC) has all this going on:

Harvey Weinstein’s trial in New York began this week. A jury is halfway chosen, and there was some excitement when model and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills secondary character, Gigi Hadid, was a member of the jury pool. Ultimately, she was not chosen for the jury.
Oprah has backed off that docuseries about sexual abuse in the music industry. She’s dropped out as an EP and Apple TV+ has dropped it from its schedule.
The Banker, a movie that was shelved at Apple TV+ following accusations against the co-producer, will be released following the conclusion of an investigation.
Leslie Jones, God bless her, was the only big-name comic to stop performing at the Comedy Cellar when Louis C.K. was welcomed back. She took her business over to the Comic Strip instead.
