Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
First, let’s be clear: there is no law that requires broadcasters to air Presidential remarks or speeches, even if the White House requests that they do so. It is up to each network to determine if something is “newsworthy.” In recent years, broadcast networks have declined to air prime time addresses from President Biden and President Obama. So there was nothing obligating any network to air President Attention Whore’s recent remarks lying about our election systems. In fact, in light of Fox News losing a nearly $800 million lawsuit for spreading The Big Lie, it would actually behoove the networks to not spread President Pathological Liar’s lies. That said, the fact that ABC chose not to broadcast last week’s address infuriated President Toddler, and so now the FCC is adding that to its list of reasons to harass the network, and threaten to pull their licenses. Because First Amendment, who?
Jimmy Kimmel invited Stephen Colbert to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live!, but Colbert declined, feeling it was too soon. BUT THINK OF THE RATINGS IT WOULD GET.
Paramount has overcome one more hurdle in its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Obviously Spencer Pratt is pro-Paramount, but more importantly, why are we still paying attention to this goober? (She asks while giving him attention.)
Nexstar thinks they’re being all sneaky.
Hunter Biden has some feelings about Jake Tapper.
Oh … so it was Ed Harris who got the Dutton Ranch showrunner canned? Makes sense.
Chuck Lorre says that no one liked his idea for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, and yet, when push comes to shove, everyone saw those Big Bang Theory dollar signs and just couldn’t resist.
Jason Sudiekis is imagining a three-season arc for this new iteration of Ted Lasso. (Good.) That link is a good long piece about Ted Lasso, its history and the story of getting this fourth season onto our screens next month.
To be fair, I feel like my brain is going to explode when I’m working on The Bachelor, too.
Prime Video is adding video games.
For quantity, Parks and Rec. That cast and group of writers and the whole company, we just had so much fun. We laughed so much for 125 episodes. There were two episodes where there was an a–hole, and that person was supposed to be there for a while, and they were excused. That cast, we’re just making each other laugh for seven years. I mean, there’s no getting around that.
Waiiiiiiit, WHO? WHO WAS THE ASSHOLE? Pajiba does some digging and makes the case for a few different famous actors, but I’m not sure I buy it. The boring answer is that there are tons of people who only appeared in two episodes, and it very well may be some actor whose name we don’t know — for instance, how many of us knew who Retta was or Aubrey Plaza, or, heck, Nick Offerman before Parks and Rec — and they blew their shot at becoming part of the cast (and fame) because of their behavior. But I’m interested in hearing your thoughts because, like the Pajiba writer, I’m a nosy bitch who loves drama.
Love is dead. (Though it lasted A LOT longer than I expected, admittedly)
