In a parallel universe, Jennifer Aniston was a ‘SNL’ star and Mariska Hargitay was on ‘Friends’

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

You might be able to see the Stranger Things finale in movie theaters after all? Stay tuned, I guess.

Jennifer Aniston could have been on Saturday Night Live, but she rejected an offer because she felt it was too “male-dominated,” and that her younger self thought she was such “hot shit.” She went on to be cast in Friends, so it all worked out.

And Mariska Hargitay auditioned for Monica on Friends, but didn’t land it. Of course, it all worked out for her, too.

Y’all better renew Alien: Earth, FX. What’s taking you so long?

If you’re an AT&T subscriber, you might have access to a free HBO Max subscription.

This is not romantic or cool, it’s creepy as hell and the subject of a Black Mirror episode. Literally. Just don’t do this.

Apparently, Ghost Adventures‘ episode that premiered on discovery+ today included the moment when Aaron Goodwin learned his wife tried to put a hit out on him, which explains this Instagram post:

Sounds like we can expect a lot more Anne Rice shows from AMC.

“You bet there is a list,” Johnson says of potential additional spinoffs. “There are so many good ideas. She is an extraordinary writer, and that much more extraordinary when you realize when she was writing — it’s really so far ahead of her time.”

Johnson teases that they have “three or four other titles [and] subjects that we’d like to pursue” based on Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. “I go to AMC every three months and say, ‘You ready for another? Ready for another?'” he adds with a laugh. “And so we’ll have one soon enough…. I think an Anne Rice aficionado could probably figure out which ones are most likely the next in line — [but] I think I’d better keep the titles to myself right now.”

Hilaria Baldwin is still whinging about being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars. Girl, they just weren’t into you.

Bravo is being sued again.

Folks are more likely to keep a streaming service when episodes are released weekly, rather than on Netflix’s binge model. Which, of course, makes sense if one thinks about it: if you have to wait for a show to drop weekly, you’ll be more likely to explore the streamer for other movies and shows and keep it around.

It doesn’t sound like Netflix is going to buy Warner Bros.

This is a genuinely great list of underrated horror movies, if you’re looking for something spooky that you might have missed. I can not recommend Late Night With the Devil, Barbarian, and Drag Me to Hell enough.  I’m going to add two more, both horror comedies, to this list: Housebound, a New Zealand film about a young woman who is put under house arrest in a haunted house; and Juan of the Dead, a Cuban take on the zombie genre, with amazing political insight.

Get well soon, Bryant Gumbel!

  1. Both of those horror comedies sound great! To add to the list – I just rewatched Tucker & Dale vs Evil the other day and it’s still an absolute perfect send-up of the genre. Truly can’t decide which is my favorite between that and Cabin In the Woods.
