Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

The Creative Emmys took place over two nights this weekend. On Saturday, The Studio and The Penguin were the big winners, with nine and eight Emmys each. Severance won six Emmys, and The Pitt only took home two. Also notable: Julianne Nicholson won the Emmy for guest actress in a comedy for her role on Hacks. She is also nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama series for her role on Paradise. And composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer won for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for The White Lotus, which he very publicly left over creative clashes with Mike White. On his social media, he wrote: “I respect the Academy because those votes can’t be bought. No smear campaign distracted them. Thank you, this means a lot to me in more than one way 🙏 I’m happy you connected with this melody cause it was an amazing trip making it.”

On the second night, SNL50 was the biggest winner of the mostly technical awards. The Traitors and Pee-Wee As Himself also did well. Hilariously, President Barack Obama took home his third Emmy. How many Emmys does President Couch Potato have again? Oh. Right.

As of now, Desi Lydic says that The Daily Show hasn’t been told to tone it down, not that they would. “We haven’t been asked to change anything,” said Lydic to reporters after she won in the Performer in a Short Form Comedy category at the Creative Arts Emmys. “We aren’t holding back and we don’t intend to.”

I thought it was a little odd when it was announced that last night’s MTV VMAs would be hosted by LL Cool J, a performer who is older than yours truly, and yours truly is in her ~cough~ties, and that they were going to be honoring Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, and Busta Rhymes, all of whom are also older than yours truly, but then I saw this and it all made sense.

(And no, I am not a millennial, geriatric or otherwise, shut up.)

Turns out, that’s it for Saturday Night Live departures: Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Ashley Padilla, and Jane Wickline are all returning this season.

Jimmy Kimmel won’t be making any more “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” now that Norman Lear is no longer with us.

This has to be about Mad Men and Matthew Weiner, right?

Paula Deen better keep Anthony Bourdain’s name out of her racist mouth.

The sitcom that Kenya Barris has in development at CBS is reportedly set in the aftermath of the Altadena wildfires, and folks are outraged:

Congratulations, Abby Champion and Patrick Schwarzenegger!

Congratulations, Penn Badgley and Domino Kirke!
