Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
In honor of Valentine’s Day, the A.V. Club has built a slideshow of TV’s worst love interests, and, yeah, Che is easily the worst. Though Riley was a close second.
As a new season of Love is Blind drops on us today, E! checks in with some of the previous couples, and I’m thrilled to see that Lauren and Cameron are still together and that Alexa and Brennon are expecting a baby. Had those two not made it, I’d be flipping tables right now.
Amazon Prime Video is being sued by California subscribers for charging them extra for an ad-free tier. GOOD. I HOPE THEY WIN.
Brian Cox sounds difficult to work with.
This year’s Super Bowl was the most-watched (AMERICAN) telecast ever. While 123.4 million average viewers is pretty good, the World Cup brings in 1.5 BILLION viewers, so. You know.
I didn’t mention the Nickelodeon coverage of the Super Bowl the other day, but from all accounts it was unhinged.
Jon Stewart was very diplomatic about his departure from Apple TV+, claiming they were protecting him from himself, basically. Speaking of Jon Stewart: viewers were really excited to see him return to The Daily Show on Monday.
And this is interesting: Originally, John Oliver was planning on being Jon Stewart’s occasional fill-in on The Daily Show, but then Comedy Central didn’t renew his contract. As a result, he created Last Week Tonight (and now owns all the Emmys) and Stewart left The Daily Show because he needed a break. The assumption is that had Oliver stuck around and helped him co-host, Stewart might not have left the series in 2016. And listen, Trevor Noah was good, but I really wish we had Stewart during the Former President Absurdity years.
Well, I mean, one building can house only so many murders.
Ayo Edebiri apologized to Jennifer Lopez personally, so everyone can stand down.
UH-OH: the remaining octogenarian Monty Python members are feuding. Eric Idle called out Terry Gilliam and his daughter for mismanaging the Python brand:
I honestly can’t tell if this is a bit or if you’re being sincere. I hope it’s a bit and you’re at least financially secure if not wealthy.
— Jacob (@Perrid13) February 10, 2024
We own everything we ever made in Python and I never dreamed that at this age the income streams would tail off so disastrously. But I guess if you put a Gilliam child in as your manager you should not be so surprised. One Gilliam is bad enough. Two can take out any company. https://t.co/J5tQauTH2D
— Eric Idle (@EricIdle) February 10, 2024
And then John Cleese came in to defend the Gilliams, and dragged Michael Palin into it:
Holly Gilliam
I have worked with Holly for the last ten years, and
I find her very efficient, clear-minded,hard-
working, and pleasant to have dealings withMichael Palin has asked me to to make it clear that he
shares this opinionTerry Gilliam is also in agreement with this
— John Cleese (@JohnCleese) February 13, 2024
But then Cleese claimed that he and Idle have “always loathed and despised each other”:
We always loathed and despised each other, but it's only recently that the truth has begun to emerge https://t.co/QYQNrSogJ6
— John Cleese (@JohnCleese) February 13, 2024
Idle was still feeling a little salty in the aftermath:
Fuck Netflix and fuck documentaries. https://t.co/hnbqDT7jUU
— Eric Idle (@EricIdle) February 11, 2024
I’m doing no more Python. I gave already. Ungrateful bastards. https://t.co/OpuJvxXoyc
— Eric Idle (@EricIdle) February 11, 2024
I still love and am proud of what we did as Python. It was a very unique group. I think of us as an ex Liverpool team. We played together well. Way back in the day. But it was never very supportive of people’s feelings and emotions. Not Brothers. Colleagues. https://t.co/Cyhr9Da0g1

I hate when Grandpas fight.
Why. It makes me happy.

The fourth season of True Detective has been its most popular (even more popular than season one, somehow); here are all the little connections creator Issa López wove into the fourth season from the first, and why she wanted to tie season four to season one.
I just binged Griselda (I was in Miami, what could be more appropriate?) and though it wasn’t the best show I’ve seen all year, it was fun — until it turns into a typical “drugs are bad; money corrupts” message. Still, it’s based on a true story; the question is how faithfully does the show tell Griselda Blanco’s actual story? And the answer is — pretty faithfully (Detective Jenn was a real person and not just a convenient feminist narrative tool? Huh!) — though they definitely took a lot of liberties to turn her into a Girl Boss instead of just being a murderous monster. Spoilers abound at the link, so tread carefully.
The Bachelor producers are threatening us with a Golden Paradise. Also, they claim they’d like to do a season of The Bachelor or Bachelorette with an LGBTQ lead, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Someone is out here riding on Elmo’s coattails. ELMO’S GOT THIS, BARNEY.
Is there even anyone out there who WANTS a Heroes‘ reboot? I mean, come on.
LOL, Marjorie Taylor Greene is SO MAD that Curb Your Enthusiasm trolled Georgia’s shit law prohibiting people giving food and water to those standing in line waiting to vote. BOO HOO, MARGE. DON’T BE SUCH A MONSTER ALL THE TIME.
After 65 years, Second City has opened an outpost in New York City.
