HI HI HI. So I’m having a rough day/week/summer. The short version is that we are HURRIEDLY renovating an upstairs bathroom without the assistance of a contractor which means I am the contractor, and today every single thing that could go wrong did. As such, I am going to have to make this post brief, and hope to get to the things I didn’t get to later. My apologies, I hope to be back on my game tomorrow. But that’s all dependent on how the renovation gods are feeling, I suppose.
Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
If CNN was looking to boost its ratings by giving Former President OranGlo a town hall, they badly miscalculated. Not only were the ratings for the actual town hall lower than a town hall with Joe Biden that aired in 2021, but their primetime ratings “cratered” two days after the Former President Incorrigible Liar’s town hall. On Friday, CNN had 335,000 viewers total on average, lower even than Newsmax. Hope it was worth it, Chris Licht!
Also, E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer is pretty sure that the Former Defamer-in-Chief’s comments might be actionable. So, success all around, everyone!
Former President Obama worries that our splintered media is destroying our democracy — that we live in different realities — and HE’S NOT WRONG. (See: Sunday’s episode of Succession.)
Meanwhile, Greg Gutfeld is out here saying that if Democrats really believe Former President Dingus is “worse than Hitler” then they would have “a moral duty” to rig elections. There is so much wrong with this, I’m not even sure where to start. But I guess first of all, no one — no one reasonable — thinks that Former President Good People on Both Sides is worse than Hitler, that is not Democrats’ starting position. But second of all, he’s showing the right’s hand here: they do believe it’s a “moral duty” to do whatever it takes to win, whether it is to “protect” the unborn or Second Amendment rights, or the country from “Communism.” And if that means making it harder for people of color or young people to vote, or revoking an entire city’s votes, or throw out absentee ballots, or hang a Vice President and storm a Capitol, well … that’s their “moral duty.”
At least one person thinks it’s a dumb idea to bring Weeds back.
Peacock has bought the rights to air an NFL wildcard playoff game.
Comcast has said they are likely to sell their remaining stakes in Hulu to Disney, which is not unexpected.
The Night Agent and Love is Blind were the most streamed series in April, so it wasn’t just me watching that trash.
