Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

The Golden Globe nominations are out and I mean … Wednesday?

Netflix and HBO Max tied for the most nominations, with 14 each.

For no reason whatsoever, here are all the shows HBO Max has canceled this year.

And here are your first-ever Children’s & Family Emmy winners.

If you thought Jon Snow was OK at the end of Game of Thrones, Kit Harington is here to tell you that he’s not. He’s very much not OK.

“I think if you asked him, he would’ve felt he got off lightly,” Harington said during the panel at the convention Sunday night, according to Entertainment Weekly. “At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be. He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.

“He’s gotta go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that, that’s interesting.

“So I think where we leave him at the end of the show, there’s always this feeling of like… I think we wanted some kind of little smile that things are OK. He’s not OK.”

So, it sounds like there is going to be a lot of brooding and moping in the Jon Snow series.

The BBC is on the defensive over how much coverage they’ve been giving to Netflix’s Harry & Meghan documentary.

I will add that I watched the first three episodes of Harry & Meghan yesterday and there wasn’t a whole lot in those episodes that hadn’t already been extensively covered over the past seven years. However, there has been a weird reaction to this one scene:

OK, but here’s the thing from someone who has actually watched the documentary: Meghan Markle isn’t making fun of the Queen or even the expectation that she should curtsyit’s clear from both this clip, and with more context from the documentary itself, that she’s poking fun at herself for not knowing the traditions and feeling awkward and unprepared to meet THE FUCKING QUEEN OF ENGLAND.

And to speak to the tweet directly above: Harry literally asks her if she knows how to curtsy; thus she is clearly expected to curtsy. Also, the entire point is that she is overwhelmed at what a big deal it is to meet the Queen — she’s not being dismissive in the least. Stop making up reasons to be offended by this woman.

It’s astonishingly expensive to be Emily in Paris. Like, living four times beyond her means expensive.

On Patrol Live! helped bring home two missing teenagers in one week, which is pretty remarkable.

The New York Times accidentally ran a full-page ad for George & Tammy that was full of fake reviews. It should be noted that this wasn’t Showtime attempting to trick people, but The Times accidentally ran a mock-up ad instead of the actual ad.

Wait, the Fettermans are in the upcoming Christian Bale Netflix film The Pale Blue Eye? I am very confused.

Hallmark’s first same-sex Christmas rom-com, The Holiday Sitter, aired last night. No heterosexual relationships were harmed as a result.

Meanwhile, Danica McKellar is out here defending Great American Family against the suggestion that they are anti-LGBTQ, but I’m not so sure, Danica.

Bill Hader was dating Ali Wong? This man is the discreet Pete Davidson.

PLEASE DO NOT THREATEN MISS LABELLE.

Elon Musk continues to have the worst week month year ever: Last week, Elton John announced he was leaving Twitter over “misinformation.” It’s unclear what misinformation he was referring to — because THERE IS SO MUCH NOW — but some have suggested it was in relation to the news that Musk won’t ban COVID misinformation from the platform anymore. Musk responded by begging John to stay.

Then last night at his San Francisco show, Dave Chappelle surprised the crowd by bringing Musk out onto the stage — because of course he did. It was not well received.

And you will be shocked by this, but the first person to post the video on Twitter, their account was disabled! SO MUCH FOR FREE SPEECH ABSOLUTISM, AMIRITE?

Love is dead. Again.

(By the way, I have lots to say about The White Lotus finale, but I’m inclined to wait a couple of days so as to not spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t had a chance to watch it just yet.)
