The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari: In December 2019, a cruise ship off of New Zealand sent 50 passengers on an excursion to a live volcano. (I should note here that the excursion was run by  a third-party vendor, and not by the cruise ship itself.) While those 50 people were on the volcano, the volcano erupted, killing 22 of those passengers, the remaining survivors suffered horrible burns and other injuries. And I bet you never heard about any of it because COVID happened and then there was no other news. This documentary explores the harrowing event with first-hand footage. Netflix

Dance Monsters: Folks in this dance competition become monsters through VFX for reasons that I do not understand. Series premiere. Netflix

The Banshees of Inisherin: Collin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson reunite in this film as two Irish friends whose relationship is fractured and one of them will do anything to fix it. 7 p.m., HBO

Jamie vs. Britney: The Father Daughter Trials: This docuseries claims to look at the controversial conservatorship from both sides, both Britney’s and her father, Jamie’s. But do we really need to hear his side of things? Really? Discovery+

Gordon Ramsay’s Road Trip: Christmas Vacation: Gordon Ramsay takes friends Gino D’Acampo and Fred Siriex on a road trip in search of good food and Santa himself. Premiere. 7 p.m., Fox


1923: Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren star in this newest installment of the Yellowstone story. It will explore the early 20th century in the West, and the pandemics, the end of Prohibition, the Great Depression, and historic droughts that disrupted the region. Series premiere. World Cup Final: Don’t know who will be in it as of this writing, but don’t be shocked if it ends up with Morocco vs. Croatia in this crazy competition. 9 a.m., Fox
