Rachel Maddow is returning to hold our hands through the early days of the incoming shitshow

Howard is perfect:

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Chuck Todd is reportedly looking for a new job, as his relationship with NBC News has become “contentious” after they hired former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel. I mean, it is some bullshit, but it’s remarkable that Chuck “Both Sides” McDaniel has finally found some spine.

MSNBC is bringing Rachel Maddow back to five nights a week and sending Alex Wagner back out into the field for Former President Grifter-Elect’s first 100 days. “THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT ABOUT MSNBC’S DECLINING RATINGS,” some P.R. flack is currently screaming into the phone at an entertainment reporter somewhere.

Here’s Bill Maher saying he’s not going to spend time covering Former President Batshit Crazy-Elect on Real Time while also saying that he’s definitely going to cover Former President Batshit Crazy-Elect on Real Time because how could he avoid it?

H’oh boy: Former President Convicted Felon-Elect’s sentencing hearing news interrupted Hoda Kotb’s goodbye at Today, and people were PISSED.

One of the things viewers missed: Kathie Lee returning to share one more glass of wine with Hoda.

Joy Behar’s agent advised her to turn down The View gig because it didn’t pay enough.

If you’re in New York City at the end of the month, you can see how it feels to host Saturday Night Live not for real, of course. Tickets will become available tomorrow on 1iota.com.

Wheel of Fortune helped orchestrate a marriage proposal which is cute and all, but I remain steadfastly anti-public proposals.

The Chrisley family is a piece of work.

Leave Aubrey Plaza alone.

Stay healthy, Brita!

Some fire updates: the fires continue, and the winds are expected to remain strong until Wednesday. The New York Times has a list of ways to help, as does CNN.

More celebrity losses. Again, this list is only intended to put faces to this unimaginable loss. Thousands of non-famous Californians have lost everything:

  • Joshua Jackson: “First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”
  • The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden: “I didn’t think it would hit me this much, man. … I’m devastated, man. I’m devastated. All the memories. I don’t want my family to see this. … Boy, obviously you’ve seen a lot of coverage on television over the last few days, and I never imagined this. I really didn’t ever imagine this. … It’s such a feeling of loss, man. It’s indescribable. It leaves you totally disoriented.”
  • NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff found his childhood home destroyed in the fires: “This is the first time I’ve seen the house I grew up in and I really don’t know what to say,”
  • Shark Tank‘s Barbara Corcoran lost a mobile home she owned in the Pacific Palisades: “The devastating fires in LA have taken so much from so many this week. The beloved Tahitian Terrace Mobile Home Park in Pacific Palisades, my little slice of heaven, was entirely destroyed when the devastating Palisades Fire rapidly moved through the park on Tuesday.”
  • Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg: “Was supposed to be our forever home, but nothing lasts forever. Thankfully our family is safe, however other LA fire victims aren’t as fortunate. Please donate to them if you can.”

And somehow, improbably, James Woods’ house was spared.

Jennifer Garner revealed she lost a friend in the fires.

Mandy Moore shared her in-laws’ GoFundMe page, only to get a lot of hate from people assuming she wasn’t helping them.

Meghan Markle’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, was scheduled to debut on Wednesday, but has since been moved to March 4, because of the fires.

The Oscar nomination announcement has been pushed back again.

The Lakers and Clippers had to postpone more games this past weekend.

Another film premiere, One of Them Days, was postponed.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! returns to taping tonight, as does NCIS, NCIS: Origins, Poppa’s House, and The Neighborhood. Price is Right and After Midnight will remain on hiatus.

Nothing stops the paparazzi, because they are ghouls.

Please, please stop referencing Public Enemy’s “Burn, Hollywood Burn,” you monsters.

WATCH THIS

NFL Football: I don’t usually recommend football, because I don’t care. But this game between the Minnesota Vikings and the L.A. Rams feels different in light of the devastation in Los Angeles. The Vikings should just be nice and let the Rams win this one. (I didn’t have this same attitude when the Texans played the Chargers this weekend, obviously.)  7:15 p.m., ABC & ESPN

Dune: Wait, WAIT, this iteration of Dune came out in 2021? That was four years ago! That can’t possibly be right … can someone please hit pause or something? 7 p.m., TNT

Annihilation: I’ve read the books, I’ve seen the movie and I’m still not entirely sure what is going on here except it’s haunting, creepy, and worth your time if you’re into scary sci-fi, and who isn’t, right? 9 p.m., MGM+ Drive-in
