President Clementine McFartface just publicly celebrated a violent attack on a journalist to absolutely no one’s surprise

“Any guy that can do a body slam, that’s my kind of guy.”

At one of his safe space rallies last night, President Dumpster Fire praised Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte for attacking Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, an attack that led Gianforte to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault. The Instigator-in-Chief then again fantasized about beating up Joe Biden, insisting he could take the former Vice President “down faster than Greg would take him down.”

None of this is surprising, of course, the most powerful man in the world has long suggested that the news media is the “enemy of the people,” and all but encouraged violence against them and his political enemies. But it is especially disturbing and disgusting for President Troll to say such dangerous things in the SAME WEEK we learned Trump’s dear friends the Saudi Arabians kidnapped and dismembered — while he was alive — Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist they considered problematic. And we wonder why the Saudis thought they could get away with it.

There is much much more to be said about Trump’s financial ties to the Saudis and the Jamal Khashoggi crisis and how our response to it reflects on our country as a moral leader — or not, as the case may be; things that have been said by actual journalists and writers with far more experience and knowledge of foreign affairs than yours truly. But it is hard to not see Mr. Khashoggi’s horrific death as the natural and eventual result of having a President who openly — gleefully, even — advocates for violence against journalists. I would say it’s only a matter of time before journalists are hurt here in the States, but as Mr. Jacobs can attest, it has already happened.

By the way, Election Day is November 6, but early voting might be taking place in your state right now. Please vote.

This is an interesting list of media companies and individuals who were doing business with Saudi Arabia and where those deals stand now in the aftermath of the murder of Washington Post writer Jamal Khashoggi. There is a whole lot of, “we’re monitoring the situation,” i.e., “we’re waiting for the outrage to blow over so that we can quietly get back to business.”

OH MY GOD:

Rhianna reportedly was invited to do the Super Bowl halftime show but declined to show her support for Colin Kaepernick. GOOD FOR YOU, RIRI. Of course, now we’re stuck with Maroon 5, but whaddya gonna do.

TV Line claims they “know” who is going to survive on Game of Thrones — and who isn’t — but they’re just a bunch of educated guesses, not actual spoilers.

Will someone please give Megan a prize already? An Emmy, a Grammy, WHATEVER?

Michael Ausiello has a blind item about an original cast member of a network series leaving at the end of this season. I’m guessing it’s going to be one of the CBS shows that I don’t watch, but what say you?

In this Sunday’s Simpson’s “Treehouse of Horror” episode there is a Futurama/Orville easter egg and let me just say, once again, BOO, THE ORVILLE, BOO.

This is a fun list of made-for-tv horror movies from the 70s through the 2000s and where you can stream them. Salem’s Lot, Trilogy of Terror, and once again, Ghostwatch all make the cut.

Some business news: David Nevins is your new Les Moonves.</strong> (In a job way, not a rapey way.)
