Welcome to (my) neighborhood, ‘NCIS: New York’!

He has no idea why he doesn’t fit here anymore, since he fit here yesterday.

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

As some of you might have gleaned, I’ve been spending a lot of time in New York City these days. It’s a long story, but basically, my husband has a lot of clients up here, our grown sons are both up in the Northeast, and our best friends just moved back to Brooklyn. So we’ve been renting a place on the Upper West Side for the past couple of years, splitting our time between New York and Houston.

This summer, we bought an apartment, and this past Friday, we finally moved in. However, our move-in was complicated by the fact that on that same Friday, our block was closed to film a scene for the new series, NCIS: New York, which debuts on CBS today.

Somehow, miraculously, our movers were able to talk their way onto the block and move us in. They didn’t start filming until late that night, and we were able to watch them work for a while (until they very politely asked us to remove ourselves from the shot — that’s my husband in front of our [wacky] building across the street in the center of this video).

So what we saw being filmed was a young woman on a bicycle being chased down our street by a motorcycle gang. Alas, there were no sightings of either LL Cool J or Scott Caan, as I’m sure their characters would have protected this young woman from whatever fate she met at the hands of the very scary motorcycle guys. From what I’ve learned third-hand from a new neighbor, it’ll be the eighth episode of the season, which, from what I can tell, will not air until sometime next year.

ANYWAY. Here’s a New York Times story about LL Cool J coming home for the series. I’ll be keeping an eye out for our episode.

In non-real estate news, the actual biggest story of the day is that the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger is officially done after the Supreme Court declined to hear that last-ditch effort to pause it.

So how’s Ellison going to pull this off while facing $80 billion in debt? Oh, that’s right, layoffs.

Anyway, adios, asshole.

An update on this week’s Saturday Night Live: that last sketch with Veronkia Slowikowska singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to her comatose father was only the first half of a two-part sketch that had to be cut over timing issues. It was actually much funnier with both halves, and they should have cut Sarah Sherman’s matchmaker bit to make room. They posted the entire two-part bit (which would have been broken up over the course of the episode had it worked) this morning:

You’re going to be watching the Emmys on Prime Video for the next six years.

Ryan Murphy says he’s not campy. SIR. EXCUSE ME. YOU ARE THE DEFINITION OF CAMP. In the same interview, he named “Roanoke” as his favorite season of American Horror Story, but I suspect he’s just saying that to get under Sarah Paulson’s skin. (I actually didn’t hate that season, to be honest.)

In another universe, Elvis Costello was Stephen Colbert’s bandleader.

As a big fan, I agree with this ranking of Damon Lindelof shows.

Oh, so now President Bitch Ass is going to pay for his own political ad instead of making us pay for it. Could it be because Republicans are worried that a Democratic president might pull the same bullshit once they’re in office? HMMM.

It’s giving: “It’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?” But the opposite.

MS Now is going to be broadcasting from battleground states this month, including Texas. YOU HEAR THAT, TEXAS? WE’RE A BATTLEGROUND STATE! Early voting begins on October 19th — we can do this thing.

Gutfeld was the only late-night comedy show to drop in the ratings last year. GOOD.

#MeToo

The Cornell case continues to be a firestorm: President Felon’s nemesis Letitia James has been brought on to the case, though her impartiality is already being questioned. Meanwhile, President Adjudicated Rapist is siding with the rapists because OF COURSE HE’S SIDING WITH THE RAPISTS. THAT’S WHAT HE DOES.

Celebrities are speaking out against the university, including Mariska Hargitay, Josh Gad, Hudson Williams, Jameela Jamil, Christina Ricci, and Florence Pugh, who claims her Instagram post about it was censored.

But other (in)famous people are siding with the rapists — sometimes in disgusting ways — despite themselves being the survivors of sexual harassment because she’s the worst.

Ladies: may I make a Halloween costume suggestion for this year?

Rick Ross was arrested on two charges of battery after his ex-girlfriend accused him of abusing her.

Former NBA player J.R. Smith was arrested on a family violence charge.

Damien Shanklin, an LSU football player, is being investigated by campus police and the district attorney’s office for raping a fellow student. He maintains his innocence.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is suing the police who arrested him based on materials in the Epstein files. OK.

Eric Weinberg, former producer and writer on Scrubs, has gone on trial for 23 counts of rape and sexual assault.

Oliver Martinez has accused Halle Berry of abusing their son, and the whole thing is a huge mess.

Raquell Brown, the estranged wife of Alaskan Bush People star Gabriel Brown, has accused him of physical, mental, and emotional abuse of both her and their children and claims he forced her to marry him.

Here’s something infuriating: Larry Nassar, the U.S. Gymnastics team doctor who was convicted of sexually abusing countless athletes, has been removed from Michigan’s sex offender registry for technical reasons.

Sexual assault charges against Trailer Park Boys star Mike Smith have been dropped.

Hey kids: this is a reminder that the things you post now will haunt you forever.

Dennis Hastert, child sexual predator and former Speaker of the House, has died. Good riddance.

If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, you can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673), which routes the caller to their nearest sexual assault service provider. You can also search for your local center here.
