Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
The Bear‘s final season drops in its entirety on Hulu tonight at 8 p.m., and it’s receiving glowing reviews. At the moment, season five is at a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
- Vulture says: “The Bear scales back down to its fundamentals and delivers a satisfying farewell to one of the most electrifying television series of the past decade.”
- The Guardian: “The Bear’s kitchen is still chaotic, but it is also now a place of community and compassion. If there is a happy ending, the gang have earned it – and so have viewers who have stuck with a show whose refusal to water down its own peculiar flavour (mostly) paid off in the end.”
- Indiewire: “The Bear did the work to stay in our lives consistently for five years, and it pays off in the final season. Maybe our love for Syd, Carmy, and Co. has changed, but it’s still there. So don’t be embarrassed to say ‘Yes, chef’ one last time.”
- Variety: “Like Carmy’s effort to make his final act at The Bear an example of the humility he otherwise lacked, The Bear seems aware that last impressions are what can lock in a legacy. The Bear can’t fully shake off two full seasons of subpar storytelling, but at least it can improve while it’s still around.”
- Decider: “But if the superb, affecting penultimate episode is any indication of what’s to come, The Bear‘s series finale should eat. Even if the series fails to make every second of its final episode count, it was a TV triumph. And come closing time, it will leave an indelible legacy behind.”
- Here’s what you need to remember ahead of this season.
- The critics will be watching the final episode along with the rest of us plebes. But the cast can tell you what won’t be in the final episode: aliens.
- Jeremy Allen White says saying goodbye to The Bear is difficult because the show feels like family, “And like, family is easy. You don’t question it. You don’t have to work at it. It just is.” Which, if you are familiar with this show, is particularly ironic.
- The AV Club argues these are the three songs that define the series.Â
Oh no … ABC is reportedly thinking about broadcasting Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette next month. This is being “reported” by TMZ, so take it all with a huge grain of salt since I’m not seeing this literally anywhere else. But if true, it gives me weeks to stock up my box wine, I suppose. And I’m going to need it.
Now that Paramount is buying Warner Bros, they are apparently getting their hands on the Harry Potter franchise. They will become the exclusive linear home for the movies (think MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network) but NBCUniversal (via Peacock) and HBO Max still share streaming rights.
Katie Couric is still pissed that she came up with the idea to interview Lady Gaga for 60 Minutes back in the day, but that the interview was given to Anderson Cooper. They then pulled the same crap on her with a Hillary Clinton interview (but gave that one to Scott Pelley). Rude.
That time while guest-hosting Live with Regis and Kelly that Clay Aiken put his hand over Kelly’s mouth, and then Rosie O’Donnell tried to say Kelly Ripa was being homophobic because Kelly was upset by it. Um, no, don’t touch my face.
Whitney Houston’s estate is REAL MAD at Oprah.
OK, but is it really a My So-Called Life reunion if Claire Danes isn’t in attendance?
Mackenzie Shirilla, the subject of Netflix’s documentary, The Crash, is staying behind bars.
LOL, Kash Patel’s girlfriend totally got the gig to sing the national anthem at the “Freedom 250” event on her own merits, YOU GUYS.
Sean Hannity has an excuse for, his huge swollen face.

Get better soon, Lionel Richie!
Congratulations to Zack Carpinello and Jenni “JWoww” Farley!
