Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Big news: robots are going to probably kill all of us by the end of the decade. I MEAN, YEAH, NO SHIT. WHAT DID Y’ALL THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN?
But anyway, here’s a bunch of TV bullshit that doesn’t actually mean anything in the wake of ROBOT APOCALYPSE.
ABC and Jimmy Kimmel are in talks about renewing Jimmy Kimmel Live! which is mostly notable because of the drama surrounding the show in the past year. This also shines some light on last week’s rumors that ABC wasn’t going to renew the show: someone, and I’m not sure which side, appears to have been using that story as part of the negotiations. ABC is looking to drastically cut the budget for the series, cutting the operating budget by 20%, as late-night in general is facing some economic contractions.
But hey: as of today, that interview with James Talarico drew in over 9 million views.
Meanwhile, President Doofus’ “midterm convention” brought in 2.5 million viewers.
So this is rich: the Kennedy Center Board (who, again, was hand-picked by President Chubby Ankles) is now saying that it is in such financial dire straits that it will have to be closed forever UNLESS! they can put President Malignant Pustule’s name on the building. Hey! HEY?! Why is the Kennedy Center suffering financially? Is it because y’all slapped his name on the building in the first part, and any artist with a sense of self-respect canceled their performances there because fuck that particular brand of shit? Or nah?

60 Minutes returned yesterday and was greeted with a shrug from critics.
Paramount and the states’ attorneys general who are suing them will sit down for settlement talks in October. Now, the states don’t want you to get this twisted: this is not them conceding to Paramount, but rather standard course in a lawsuit of this type. Just because they are being forced to discuss a settlement doesn’t mean one will necessarily happen.
And someone, can’t imagine who, just leaked a report suggesting that if Paramount were to leave Los Angeles, it would cost 58,000 jobs and up to $21 billion a year in losses for California. Nice industry you got there; shame if something were to happen to it.
Oh hey, the Emmys are tonight. I’m going to close last week’s polls tonight at 6/7 p.m., and we can compare how y’all did tomorrow.
Some more Emmys ahead of the Emmys:
- Here’s why there might be multiple Variety Series winners.
- Why Heated Rivalry and other series weren’t eligible for the Emmys this year.
- A list of stars who somehow have never won an Emmy. (Keri Russell? Really?)
- Jean Smart could make history tonight.
- And for the fashion girlies, a look at some of the best Emmy dresses of all time.
Well, now they’re trying to blame the rating drop for The Gentlemen on Netflix on the rumors that Meghan Markle was joining the cast, and not, you know, the two-year break between seasons. But sure. What can’t she destroy, right?
It’s official: the Nashville International Airport has been named for Dolly.
I want the names of the Nashville artists who haven’t reached out to Stella Parton in the wake of her sister’s death. Just give me their names.
Ooh, Lilly Wachowski struck a J.K. Rowling nerve.
That Johnathan Majors comeback won’t be happening anytime soon at this rate.
Congratulations, Franco Lo Presti and Emily Alatalo.
Congratulations to Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky!
Enjoy your retirement, Judge Judy.
I’m proud of you, UT students. Hook ’em.
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham pressed President Liar on that $5,000 promise if the Republicans win the House and Senate in November, and he said a bunch of nonsense words. Hey, that reminds me, are you sure you’re registered to vote?
If you are in Texas, you can check your registration here. (And be sure to check a few more times before October 5th, as they intend to keep purging.)
