Even having already taken his show away, CBS still manages to step in it with Stephen Colbert

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Even after his show’s cancellation, Stephen Colbert has still managed to stir up some nonsense with CBS. SO. One day after the series finale of The Late Show, Colbert showed up on Only in Monroe, a Michigan public access TV show based in Monroe, Michigan. “Surprise guests included Jack White and Jeff Daniels, with other surprise appearances from Steve Buscemi, Eminem and Byron Allen (via FaceTime). The show’s regular hosts, Michelle Baumann and Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson (a former Miss America), also were on the show.”

But soon after it showed up on YouTube, CBS began issuing takedown notices to YouTube users who were posting the video online. It seems the episode was produced by CBS Studios, and was supposed to have an exclusive home on “Stephen Colbert’s YouTube channel in collaboration with Monroe Community Media and ‘The Late Show’s’ YouTube channels.” After the public outcry that suggested CBS was trying to silence Colbert again, the network backed off and stopped issuing the takedown notices.

Speaking of The Late Show, a video of the performance of “When the Saints Come Marching In” that was not shown during the finale episode has emerged online.

And his desk will find a new home at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, where it will be housed alongside Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show desk.

Judd Apatow wrote an essay in defense of the late-night model:

“Some people say late-night is dying out, but I hope not. I love the host with the desk, with the band, doing the monologue. I love it when the monologue works. I love it when it doesn’t. I hope one day our country is stable enough that some of the monologues don’t have to be about all the horrifying things that happened that day. But when almost everything that happens is horrifying, you really do need to gather and talk about it,” Apatow concluded. “So I pray that when all of the entertainment industry is owned by one man in the future — some bizarro creature who’s half man, half robot, who makes all decisions for us in our surveillance state — that he likes talk shows. And even if it doesn’t make economic sense, I hope he lets at least one stay on the air.”

Anyone from Texas could have told you that Dallas was really about Houston, duh.

Eleven’s dress from Stranger Things will be enshrined in The Smithsonian.

If you host Saturday Night Live and you think the monologue didn’t go well, it probably didn’t. Don’t let John Mulaney or Pete Davidson tell you otherwise.

I don’t know, but maybe we shouldn’t encourage people to bet on literally everything? Maybe that’s a bad idea?

Regarding the story about Tom Hardy below in “Casting,” it sounds like he might have pissed off Dame Helen Mirren. (Which, following the stories that came out after Mad Max: Fury Road and how he treated Charlize Theron, I’m inclined to believe it.)

There was another shooting at the White House this weekend, and this one poor NBC reporter has become an instant meme:
