Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Bob Iger of Disney and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic asked the women of The View and their producer Brian Teta to lighten up on the political topics and lean into more “celebrity” conversations, and they were like, “Absofuckinglutely not.” Will the networks ever stop licking this man’s boots?
Now, a lot of the stories I’m seeing about this say that they were asked to “tone down their Trump bashing” and while that might have been the intention, it sounds like it was couched in more general “back away from politics” language (because even they know how it must sound — terrible). And that is interesting to me, because at least according to Jenny McCarthy, the show did pivot away from politics once before, back in 2013-2014 or so, when she was brought in to “lighten things up.” This new direction didn’t last very long, at least according to McCarthy, because Barbara Walters couldn’t keep up with the pop culture references, as she was in the early stages of dementia. ALLEGEDLY. They returned to politics, and now it’s what the show is primarily known for. As Ana Navarro told them: “This is what our audience wants. Isn’t it gonna look kind of bad if we’re all of a sudden not talking about politics?”
And don’t worry, they were happily blasting President White Genocide on The View today.
60 Minutes was the “most-watched news program in the United States for a record 51st consecutive season.” DO YOU HEAR THAT, SHARI REDSTONE? DON’T MESS WITH A GOOD THING.
Oh no. Anyway.
Bowen Yang’s explanation for the sad faces he and Sarah Sherman were making at one another during the SNL season finale “good nights” does not do anything to tamp down the worry he might be leaving this season: “I think you get to a point at SNL where you understand that you’re on the downswing of things. I think I was just processing that being one of the last ‘last nights’ that I would have, and that is a huge thing.” And then, when asked whether he was coming back next season, he refused to answer. SIR.
John Krasinski is game for appearing in the upcoming The Office spinoff, The Paper.
Twin Peaks is taking the weird on the road — but nowhere near Texas, unfortunately.
Danny DeVito knows who the funniest is on Sunny, and I think he might be right.
Soap actresses marveling that reality TV is “real.”
Where is the “HG” going on HGTV?
Reneé Rapp included what many think is a diss of The Sex Lives of College Girls in her new song, “Leave Me Alone”: “I took my sex life with me, now the show ain’t f–king,” Reneé sings on the second verse of the track. “Leave me alone, b—h, I wanna have fun.” What is adorable about all of this is that absolutely no one is thinking about The Sex Lives of College Girls, but go off, Reneé
I’m including this article about the last episode of Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show which aired 33 years ago today mostly so I can brag that just last week I SAT AT JOHNNY’S DESK.
Johnny’s desk, chair, and guest seats are currently at the Paley Center for Media in midtown Manhattan, along with other props and costumes from I Love Lucy, The Love Boat, The Honeymooners, The Flying Nun, The Andy Griffith Show, and Happy Days. They are also currently hosting an exhibition of costumes, props, and scripts from The Handmaid’s Tale. But the Paley Center is best known for being a television library, hosting hundreds of thousands of television episodes, news broadcasts, and specials, all of which you can watch there. (I watched the never-aired pilot episode of The Muppet Show, and an episode of Fantasy Island that featured Red Buttons, Regis Philbin and Kyle Richards.) It’s not a huge museum — the American Museum of the Moving Image in Queens has a much larger collection — but the Paley is worth a little bit of your time if you’re in Manhattan sometime soon.

You sat at Johnny’s actual desk?? That’s awesome.
I DID! They also have a railing from ‘The Love Boat’ and they allow you to touch it. It’s not a big exhibit, BUT YOU CAN SIT AT JOHNNY’S DESK!
