As for mid TV: there are plenty of good, serviceable shows out there, including the ones Poniewozik explicitly points out: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Poker Face, Apples Never Fall, Masters of the Air, Feud: Capote vs. the Swan — all of which I’ve watched, and all of which were fine! They were fine. But the groundbreaking, memorable, you-can’t-shake-it series, they are fewer and far between, especially in the wake of the shutdowns caused by the strikes. For the season that we are currently in, Shōgun, The Curse, and Baby Reindeer are the only ones that immediately come to mind. And so, I’m curious to hear which shows you think have broken through the “mid” categorization so far this season.
Leaving quality behind, in terms of sheer numbers, CBS remains undefeated.

I’ve got two episodes of We are Lady Parts left and it would probably qualify as mid TV. Very enjoyable so far!
“Will Trent” continues to be an enjoyable watch. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but I’m invested in the characters and the actors are all good.
