‘House of the Dragon’ is doing great … but ‘Game of Thrones’ is somehow doing even better?

GIVE ME ALL OF THE OTTER BABIES:

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Lorne Michaels discusses this upcoming season of Saturday Night Live as a “year of reinvention” having lost 8 cast members, some of whom were SNL superstars.

This is interesting: House of the Dragon is doing gangbusters for HBO, averaging nearly 30 million viewers every week. However, more people are streaming Game of Thrones than they are House of the Dragon. House of the Dragon came in on the Nielsen streaming charts at number 6; Game of Thrones is number 3. There’s some speculation that House of the Dragon is that low because there aren’t as many episodes available to binge, which makes sense. (And by the way: the series that is the most popular streaming title, Echoes? Is complete and total trash, just so you know.)

Are you a glutton for punishment? Great news: you can apply to appear as a contestant on Netflix’s dating series, Love is Blind!

Holy smokes: Canadian actor Ryan Grantham, who appeared in Riverdale and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was just sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother. Apparently, after shooting her in the back of the head, Grantham left the scene of the crime with the gun and a carload of ammunition with the intention of assassinating Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and he considered perpetrating a mass shooting event at his college. He eventually turned himself in to the police, instead. How am I only hearing about this now?

The Kid Mero has opened up a little more about his split with Desus, and it sounds like it had more to do with the show moving from Vice to Showtime than anything personal between them:

“Vice was like Sarah Lawrence compared to some ivy league school,” Mero said that the two companies were so drastically different, that it was harder to control where their show was going. “Vice was a very small crew. If I had any issues, I could go, literally, it was three floors. Vice was a totally different kind of setup and workflow. When you get to the big machine, people wanna put their fingerprints on stuff.”

Abbott Elementary has a pretty big fan:

Chris Rock was apparently offered a “shit ton” of money to host next year’s Golden Globes, but he declined.

After 10 years being sponsored by Pepsi, the Super Bowl Halftime Show has a new sponsor: Apple Music. This feels like an appropriate partnership.

Never forget: Anthony Bourdain was awesome:

  1. My family was randomly chosen by Nielson. We got an unsolicited flier from them about how much they pay and how it works. The strange part is you wear what looks like a smart watch and it keeps track of what you’re watching. I had no idea thats how they did it.

    1. Ooh, that’s new technology. Interesting! They used to make you manually log everything your household was watching.

  2. So, Ty Tennant is the adopted son of David Tennant (10th Dr. Who) and grandson of Peter Davison (5th Dr. Who) and will play opposite Matt Smith (11th Dr. Who). And the episode which introduces him has a time jump. The Universe is playing with us again.
