Hi, Friday! Before we get into the RNC buffoonery, enjoy this wonderful video of a guy doing a simple, nice thing:
Political Crap
Last night was the final night of the Republican National Convention — THANK GOD — and it was held on the front lawn of the White House in yet another violation of the Hatch Act. It was unethical, inappropriate, illegal, but also dangerous!
They brought in a huge crowd of about 2,000 people — most of whom were unmasked — and none were tested except for those who would be in close contact with President Preexisting Condition.
Additionally, the opening video featured pictures of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden while warning that the Democrats are “telling you what to wear.”
Attendees at Trump & Pence speeches weren't tested for coronavirus, per @jdawsey1. Chairs are within inches on South Lawn tonight. Some attendees are wearing masks, but most are not. Guests at Pence speech had temp checks. https://t.co/0XNRerYzRR

On the lack of social distancing or face masks at Trump’s #RNC2020 acceptance speech in the middle of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, a senior White House official tells @Acosta: “Everybody is going to catch this thing eventually.” 🤯 pic.twitter.com/0T5e6r3BSx

PRESIDENT SCIENCE, EVERYBODY!
The big featured speakers were Rudy Giuliani, Ivanka Trump, and her father. Oh, and the human ham hock who runs the UFC.
Rudy screamed about the violence erupting in Trump’s America.
DONALD TRUMP IS THE PRESIDENT RIGHT NOW!

Ivanka’s speech was insipid, and not worth even commenting on, really, except for this moment when it ended:
Melania loathing Ivanka is the only time she’s ever even tried to make most Americans empathize with her. pic.twitter.com/9Q50IRkA0g

Speaking of Melania, dumbass wore a bright green dress and the internet did what the internet does:
Whoever picked the dress for Melania knows nothing about green screen editing. @RexChapman @Trevornoah @ProjectLincoln @donwinslow pic.twitter.com/S1mbtPpfHC

As for President Fuhrer’s speech itself, it was long, boring, and very low-energy. Even Fox News thought so (well, one guy on Fox News).
Fox News' Chris Wallace: Trump's speech was "surprisingly flat.
"I have to say I was surprised at the lack of fireworks in the president's speech tonight," he said. "First of all, it was far too long. 70 minutes exactly." https://t.co/4Lzw6jtM1d

As for the content itself, I will just leave it to the fact-checkers:
.@maddow’s fact check right after Trump’s speech is worth your watch.

This is remarkable delivery. If it’s not on teleprompter, it’s some of the best broadcasting I’ve ever seen. pic.twitter.com/TfSvM2p4hY

Trump on his approach to the virus: “We are focusing on the science, the facts and the data” Trump is saying this to a non-socially distanced crowd where supporters aren’t wearing masks.
— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) August 28, 2020
Scream four more years. Scream it super loud. Spit it. #superspreaderconvention #RNC2020

Going Viral
The Los Angeles Times had to delete a tweet quoting President Prevaricator at his RNC speech last night suggesting that a vaccine is immediately forthcoming because it didn’t give enough context — that context being that it’s completely unsubstantiated.
We deleted a previous tweet because it did not meet our editorial standards.

NBC’s debut of Law & Order: Organized Crime has been pushed back to 2021, unsurprisingly.
Invasion, an alien invasion film at Apple TV+, returned to production in England. Check out casting below for more information.
Can you even imagine risking your life to see Smash Mouth in concert? Welp, as of yesterday some 100+ people who attended their concert in Sturgis have tested positive for COVID. We are the stupidest people.
All Other TV News
Here’s the first episode of Showtime’s docuseries Love Fraud. The series is receiving terrific reviews and high praise for allowing the subjects to tell their own stories. Here’s more about Richard Scott Smith, the conman at the center of the story.
And the only other thing I have for you today is Amber Riley’s tribute to Naya Rivera on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! It’s been a long week.
