A documentary about a First Lady is really popular right now … and it’s not that one.

This is not literally my dog, but this is literally (how) my dog (behaves).

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Today’s Nancy Guthrie update:

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have released a video, addressing the person (or people) who took her mother, begging for proof of life and wanting to talk.

A $50,000 reward is being offered in the case; law enforcement insists they do not have any suspects. Here’s everything we know about the Guthrie children.

Today Show co-host Craig Melvin, who was also scheduled to travel to Italy for the Olympics, will now be staying in the States following reports that security has been increased around The Today Show. Ahmed Fareed will be taking over Melvin’s role in Italy.

President Dementia now says he’s going to stay out of the purchase of Warner Bros. OK.

David Ellison is now whining at Europe.

Movie theater owners don’t seem to believe Sarandos when he promises a 45-day theatrical window for Warner Bros. movies.

More on that Congressional hearing with Netflix head Ted Sarandos, I can’t get over Senators hissing at him that Netflix has “the wokest content in the history of the world.” OK? And? Here’s the thing: obviously, the government can not dictate what content Netflix provides on its platform, as long as it is not outright illegal. So, leaving aside these attacks on the First Amendment, what I find fascinating is: isn’t the Right supposed to be the free-market capitalists? If Netflix is creating “woke” content and people are consuming it, and they are the most profitable streaming service in the world, shouldn’t the party of capitalists be applauding their success instead of attacking it? Apparently, woke sells; deal with it.

And leave it to my Senator Dipshit to demand Sarandos answer for a singer making a political comment at the Grammys, which did not stream on Netflix. He’s such an embarrassment.

Sir Ian McKellan was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, where he performed a bit of Shakespeare. The 400-year-old writing is relevant and powerful and Sir Ian McKellan is stunning. Please take the four minutes it takes to watch:

(It’s from a play called Sir Thomas More, which was written by Anthony Munday and Henry Chettle, but Shakespeare is thought to have contributed a three-page revision, which Sir Ian McKellan performs here.)

From Shakespeare to wrestling crowds, people are done:

I am so here for the level of pettiness it takes to make the Michelle Obama documentary Becoming surge in viewership on Netflix by 13,000%. You are my people.

And about those opening weekend numbers for that other First Lady documentary …

Today was the 25th anniversary of Kelly Ripa joining Live! and they didn’t mention it at all on the show. Happy 25th, Ripa! It’s not been a smooth ride, but it has been an interesting one.

Bill Nye will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 4th Children’s and Family Emmy Awards.

Don Lemon is set to receive a lifetime achievement award from The Truth Awards. And look. While I agree that in the wake of the past week’s events, he certainly is deserving, can I just pause here and state how irritated I am at having to defend and root for Don Lemon on this timeline after everything that man has said and done to his female colleagues? I hate it here.

“The truth is fighting for its life right now.” — Wendy McMahon, former president and CEO, CBS News and Stations, CBS Media Ventures, at the National Association of Television Program Executives conference yesterday. “I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that journalism, which is the essential guardrail of our democracy, is under siege right now,” McMahon said. “Day after day, we are seeing actions taken, decisions taken, that ultimately are dismantling the purpose of journalism and the protections that sustain it.”

Bridgerton fans need to calm down.

I don’t know, maybe hire a stunt coordinator next time?

Oh, in the wake of Catherine O’Hara’s untimely death, you wanted to watch old episodes of the great SCTV? Well, too bad.

Stay healthy, Bo Jackson.
