Oh cool: CNN’s head, Mark Thompson, told his reporters to “ease up” on the coverage of President Cognitive Test’s completely outrageous destruction of the East Wing. Why? Why, Mark? “Thompson had been at the White House last week meeting the Trump administration officials about the network’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service, Status reported, noting it is commonplace for the heads of major news networks to meet with West Wing officials to shore up professional rapport and establish lines of communication.” Oh.

In other “destruction of the fourth estate” news, Bret Baier says “thanks but no thanks” to CBS News (for now). His contract with Fox News goes through 2028, so he’s not in a position to change teams. But that’s OK, because Bari Weiss is now courting that douchecanoe, Scott Jennings. 

The View is foregoing the Halloween costumes this year. Explaining, Alyssa Farrah Griffith explained, “I know I was bummed, but to be honest, with how heavy some of the topics are, you don’t want to be, like, dressed as a grape and talking about what’s happening in our news cycle.” Fair enough.

Paramount will keep Yellowstone and its eleventy spinoffs after Sheridan leaves for NBCUniversal. So they’ve got that going for them. Here are more details of the behind-the-scenes machinations behind Paramount’s huge loss: basically, a lot of money and huge egos were at play. But I’m sure everything’s going great at Paramount, and this is no biggie.

Terrifier actress, Catherine Corcoran, is suing filmmaker Damien Leone and producers for breach of contract, claiming they denied her her share of profits. She is also suing for on-set sexual harassment, violations of SAG rules, and extreme working conditions.

Outer Banks creator and director, Jonas Pate, has been accused of grabbing and shaking a female production assistant while shouting in her face. It was bad enough that actors on the show had to step in and pull him off her. Production is continuing.

Bijou Phillips wants to drop “Masterson” from her daughter’s name in the wake of Danny Masterson’s rape conviction.

Melania Trump threatened to sue writer Michael Wolff for $1 billion over his comments suggesting that she was behind White House efforts to minimize her and her husband’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Michael Wolff said, “Bet,” and has actually sued her:

“Mrs. Trump and her ‘unitary executive’ husband along with their MAGA myrmidons have made a practice of threatening those who speak against them with costly SLAPP actions in order to silence their speech, to intimidate their critics generally, and to extract unjustified payments and North Korean-style confessions and apologies,’” says the 15-page filing today from the veteran Trump and Rupert Murdoch chronicler.

“By her Threat Letter and this responsive Declaratory Action and related Anti- SLAPP Declaratory Action, Mrs. Trump has given Wolff subpoena power which he intends to exercise fully and expeditiously,” the filing adds with no small implications of its own.

Excellent. Depose them both, Michael.

While we’re on the subject of Jeffrey Epstein, the Virginia Giuffre book has been out for a week now, detailing horrible abuses of young women by Prince Andrew, quite notably. So obviously the person we must blame is … a woman. Remember: a grown-ass adult man is never responsible for his own shitty behavior, y’all!

At least someone in the British press is gaining a little perspective from the Prince Andrew bombshells and realizing that maybe Harry and Meghan weren’t the villains they made them out to be. 

One of the things Giuffre accuses Prince Andrew of doing is putting pressure on media outlets to not air her interviews, and to sic internet trolls to hound her. HUH. SOUNDS FAMILIAR.
