Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Adam Schiff wants to know more about that $16 million bribe, please.
Nexstar is acquiring Tegna — which is NOT GREAT. Here’s the deal: Nexstar is the largest owner of television stations in the country, and this takeover will give them 265 stations in 44 states, representing 80% of TV households. We used to limit ownership to 39% because it’s not a great idea to have a monopoly on news and information. But I think you can guess who loosened that regulation.
I’ve looked at this article about ESPN’s bundles and pricing for a solid five minutes. There are a bunch of options, and I’m very confused by what you get with which. Anyway, good luck.
Streaming just keeps getting bigger.
Ron Perlman is launching a platform called “Watrfall” that will be fan and creator-led. “Watrfall empowers fans to financially invest in the stories they care about while actively participating in their creation through voting on projects, engaging in the creative process, and gaining transparent access to financials, enabling fans to step into the role of producer.”
Aubrey Plaza addressed her grief on Amy Poehler’s podcast, and it was lovely and sad, and most importantly, on her own terms.
Folks are watching Alien: Earth.Ā
Ben Stiller will not be directing Severance this season. š
But Dan Erickson, the creator and showrunner of Severance, has a few answers for you.
Wow, someone’s bitter. Trying to take credit for a show you didn’t produce or have anything at all to do with is bold.
James Burrows is mourning the multi-camera comedy: āIāve been to the funeral for the multi-camera comedy about nine times,ā Burrows said. āAnd this time, Iām wearing a dark suit.ā
According to Joe Giudice, Teresa was only paid $25,000 for the first season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. And I’m not saying that this justifies the fraud and tax evasion, but you’re not going to keep up that McMansion lifestyle on $25,000.
That time Andy Warhol was on The Love Boat.Ā
Ms Betty White, ladies and gentlemen.
SNL is getting the Off-Broadway treatment.Ā
Bachelor producer Jason Ehrlich is returning to helm The Golden Bachelor. So what makes this story interesting is that he had been with The Bachelor for 20 years, but then left last year when allegations of a toxic work environment were being levelled at his fellow producers, Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner. Now they’re gone, and he’s come back. And, in fact, the Golden Bachelorette herself, Joan Vassos, commented on this story:
“What a great decision by the franchise! He was the EP on Golden Bachelor and was loved by everyone. And to say that he was greatly missed during the Golden Bachelorette is an understatement. He was/is my producer, friend, and helped me find myself during a difficult timeā¦while on TV. Iām not sure exactly what is in store for him in his new role, but I hope he will be with the contestants sharing his heartfelt adviceā¦I never felt āproducedā and I always trusted that he had my best interest in mind. Thatās the only way this show works.”
Bachelor “winner” Juliana Pasquarosa is not dating Bachelorette Jenn Tran’s ex-boyfriend Matt Rossi despite making a social media post teasing that they were. What is wild is that this isn’t a typical “Bachelor Nation” connection, because Rossi was never a contestant — he was just Tran’s real-life ex who showed up on the show to try to win her back. And it turns out he and Pasquarosa went to high school together. Small world. And a lot of words for a very dumb non-story.
The Scott Wolf-Kelly Wolf divorce is becoming uglier.
