Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

In honor of tonight’s tree-lighting ceremony, here are a bunch of facts about the Rockefeller Center Tree. My fun fact about the tree: if you go to New York City in December, avoid this area AT ALL COSTS, unless you get there sometime after 11 p.m.

We now know that Euphoria won’t be back until at the earliest 2026. That will make the break between seasons two and three FOUR YEARS LONG. I may end up having to eat my words, but that’s just a ridiculously long time to expect the audience to maintain the same enthusiasm. Especially for a primarily young adult audience who will have matured and changed significantly. I know they are planning to set the show in a post-high school setting, but will their audience have outgrown them? What I’m saying is I’ll believe this will happen once they start filming. Maybe.

ESPN+ is now available on Disney+, making the trio of streamers (Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+) all available under a single banner.

Max is testing having live HBO channels on the streaming site. It’s in beta testing for a small group of ad-free subscribers.

The head of MSNBC, Rashida Jones (not that Rashida Jones) is considering stepping down after the collapse of ratings following the election.

Speaking of: the numbers for MSNBC are grim.

Morning Joe has lost 14%, the Alex Wagner/Rachel Maddow hour has gone down 32%, “Chris Hayes was down 15%, Joy Reid 30%, and Lawrence O’Donnell 24%. Nicolle Wallace, the usual ratings leader for the network, was also down some 14%.”

Those are unsustainable numbers. Will viewers return after Former President Liar Elect is sworn in … again? I mean, maybe. I am one of the viewers MSNBC is counting on returning after Inauguration Day. I’m staying away from cable news as much as possible right now, and intend to through the holidays if I can. Come January, I have a reason to be paying extra attention to the news, as I write about it here on this site. But will other viewers who have no obligation to pay attention to politics return in January? A second term under this clown will be a very different experience from the first: we’ve seen this show before. Will folks be willing to drown themselves in it all over again? MSNBC better hope so.

“Tom Sandoval Thinks He Deserves to Cash in As Much Money As Brad Pitt” is an INCREDIBLY misleading headline for this article. Sandoval has simply joined the “reality stars should unionize and be paid more, including residuals” train, and honestly, I don’t blame him. Reality shows, particularly the Bravo style shows, use up these people’s lives for material and then spit them out when there’s nothing left. I agree that no one has to sign up for this, but these shows can be incredibly exploitative and need to be thought of in a new way.

Entertainment Weekly came up with the “22 most shocking” moments on TV in 2024, but honestly, it’s a list of 22 pretty huge TV spoilers, so tread VERY CAREFULLY.

The View‘s Alyssa Farah has revealed that she is undergoing IVF treatments, and publicly thanked co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Sarah Hines for supporting her. (It makes this Hostin dig in a recent political argument particularly ugly, though.) Unclear why they were all missing on yesterday’s show, though.

Marian Price, a veteran Irish republican depicted as a murderer in the Hulu series Say Nothing, is suing Disney which can’t possibly be a surprising outcome.

Bill Maher claims he’s considering quitting thanks to Former President Too Much TV-Elect’s re-election and we could only be so lucky. (There’s no chance this narcissist would give up his platform, be for real right now.)

Get well soon, John Rzeznik.

One thought on “MSNBC’s ratings continue to crater and their only hope is … Former President Fascist-Elect

  1. I consume an unhealthy amount of news, but I stopped watching MSNBC when Joe dropped out of the race and I have no plans to go back–a decision only reinforced by the garment rending and teeth gnashing over his son’s pardon. Legacy media isn’t up to the task of covering Felon34 and his Klown Kar Kabinet.
