‘The Today Show’ isn’t down with y’all

I don’t usually post music here, but this song is … an emotional rollercoaster. It’s short, sweet, and worth one minute and 42 seconds of your time:

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

I’m with Jimmy on this one.

And, of course, right wing media is going nuts over this,” he added, before airing a super-cut of right wing media pundits calling President Biden a liar. “You almost think they got a tape of Biden calling Georgia asking for 11,000 votes.”

“They have to be kidding right? Everyone who voted to let a 34-time convicted felon off the hook is very mad about Joe Biden letting his son off the hook,” he pointed out.

Kimmel added that he doesn’t “necessarily disagree” with how they feel about Hunter being pardoned, but asked that critics “take a stroll through reality” and realize that Trump just appointed Charles Kushner, who he pardoned during his presidency, as the new U.S. ambassador to France.

Look, the Democrats who are mad about President Biden pardoning his son need to wake up, look around the reality we are actually living in instead of the imaginary West Wing world they wish we lived in, and just imagine for one moment what the incoming administration with full control of both houses of Congress would do to Hunter Biden the minute they took office.

And as for the Republicans who are mad about President Biden pardoning his son … Y’ALL JUST PARDONED A CONVICTED FELON 34 TIMES OVER AGAIN. PLEASE TAKE ALL OF THE SEATS.

You can take the girl out of Y’all country, but you can’t take the y’all out of the girl.

L.L. Cool J, who once declared himself to be the G.O.A.T., continues to be humble.

Ted Danson is set to receive the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes. I could go on a little smug rant about how the Golden Globes are a corrupt organization that hands out prizes for simple access and that this is all cheap publicity for his current Netflix project A Man on the Inside. But I like Ted Danson (and A Man on the Inside) and do think he deserves recognition for his decades of comedy genius so I’ll just take a seat.

#MeToo

Former President Document Stealer-Elect’s nominee for head of the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, continues to be a shockingly poor choice: The New Yorker published a piece exposing that Hegseth was forced to resign from TWO veterans organizations after accusations of rampant sexual harassment, mismanagement of funds, and countless instances of intoxication. The man’s own mother wrote him a scathing email, accusing him of mistreating women for years.

You are an abuser of women — that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego. You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth.

I mean when your own mom is calling you out on your misogyny and sexism …

Over in the U.K., Gregg Wallace, the host of MasterChef, has stepped away from filming after 13 people who have worked with him over the years accused him of making inappropriate sexual comments. Even Rod Stewart is calling him out for being a gross bully:

It’s not looking great that some of the accusations came to light two years ago and the BBC did nothing to investigate at the time, or that back in 2017, a BBC executive warned Wallace that his behavior was “unacceptable and cannot continue.” And yet somehow … they did!

For his part, Wallace threw gasoline on the fire by putting this statement on Instagram:

“I’ve been doing MasterChef for 20 years – amateur, professional, and Celebrity MasterChef – and I think in that time I have worked with over 4,000 contestants of all different ages, all different backgrounds, all walks of life,” Wallace said. “And apparently now, I’m reading in the paper, there’s been 13 complaints in that time. Now, in the newspaper, I can see the complaints coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age just from Celebrity MasterChef. This isn’t right. In over 20 years of television, can you imagine how many women, female contestants on MasterChef, have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendo – can you imagine?”

Yep! He tried to blame women of a “certain age” and a certain class for holding him accountable for his bad behavior. Let me point out that it is the height of misogyny to dismiss the complaints of women of a certain age or economic group — middle-class, older women, the same women who happen to be less intimidatable and more mature, the very ones who feel they are able to lodge a complaint — as somehow not being real. Younger women and women of less advantaged economic backgrounds have a hell of a lot more to lose by complaining about the behavior of a powerful male celebrity, so the play here is to insist that the groups who have the power to complain must be ignored. Great plan, can’t see how it could go wrong in this post-#MeToo moment.

At some point, Wallace’s PR person took over his phone and forced him to produce another video and issue this apology:

“I want to apologize for any offense that I caused for my post yesterday and any upset I may have caused to a lot of people. I wasn’t in a good head space when I posted it. I’ve been under a huge amount of stress, a lot of emotion. I felt very alone, under siege yesterday when I posted it. It’s obvious to me I need to take some time out now while this investigation is underway. I hope you understand and I do hope that you will accept this apology.”

Anyway, the BBC originally said they weren’t pulling his episodes of MasterChef, including the upcoming Christmas specials, but they have since changed their minds. HUH! WHY?

For once, Sean Combs is not our main character of the week, although he is being sued for $10 million by a woman who claims he sexually assaulted her and dangled her over a 17-story balcony.

Sounds like some lawyers got through their clients’ thick skulls:

Marilyn Manson has dropped his lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood and will pay her attorney fees.

And Charlie Rose has reached a settlement with three former CBS employees who claimed he sexually harassed them.

Ireland is dumping Conor McGregor after his conviction for sexually assaulting a woman: over 1,000 Irish and U.K. shops, including Tesco and Supervalu, are boycotting his products, and the company that bought his whiskey brand says they have no intention of using his likeness going forward. Good for them.

Kate Winslet is still pissed at all the body-shaming she endured during the Titanic days.

Hoda Kotb recalled a time when one of her bosses encouraged her to get on the treadmill early in her career, a story that left Jenna Bush Hager stunned.

Meanwhile, Jesse Watters is out here demanding more “eye candy” from the female cabinet appointees which is just very Jesse Watters.

Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized again. It appears to be related to his claims of deplorable and constitutional-violating conditions at Rikers.
