This is Fred. He just found out he can chew his own ear. There aren't actually any rules against it, he checked. 12/10
Over in our political hell:
Here’s something that will definitely not make you want to scream into the void: Former President Mass Deportation and Tariffs-Elect’s voters were found to pay less attention to the news than Harris voters. I’m not calling them stupid, I’m calling them uninformed.
And look, I am not a political scientist or even a nattering talking head for a cable news channel who is going to point to the one thing that the Democrats did in this campaign that irritated me personally and claim that THIS is the reason they lost. I’m sure there are things that the Harris campaign could have done differently at the margins, but I don’t think it would have made any difference in the end.
The truth of the matter is, the people who voted for Former President They’re Eating the Dogs-Elect, they either believe insane, disprovable lies spewed by a convicted felon and are so ignorant and blind to reality that there was no convincing them to vote any other way, or they weren’t paying any attention and just voted based on “vibes” (read: internalized misogyny and a misunderstanding of the actual economy), or they are fully bought into the bigotry, the sexism, the hateful rhetoric, and long for an authoritarian leadership who will punish their perceived “enemies.” I just am unclear why we are spinning our wheels trying to figure out what Harris did wrong instead of trying to understand how the hell half of this country turned so unbelievably dark.
As Roxane Gay wrote in this very incisive piece in the New York Times recently:
Mr. Trump’s voters are granted a level of care and coddling that defies credulity and that is afforded to no other voting bloc. Many of them believe the most ludicrous things: babies being aborted after birth and children going to school as one gender and returning home surgically altered as another gender even though these things simply do not happen. Time and again, we hear the wild lies these voters believe and we act as if they are sharing the same reality as ours, as if they are making informed decisions about legitimate issues. We act as if they get to dictate the terms of political engagement on a foundation of fevered mendacity.
We must refuse to participate in a mass delusion. We must refuse to accept that the ignorance on display is a congenital condition rather than a choice. All of us should refuse to pretend that any of this is normal and that these voters are just woefully misunderstood and that if only the Democrats addressed their economic anxiety, they might vote differently. While they are numerous, that does not make them right.
I don’t know what the answer is. I don’t know how we reach an uninformed populace in a fractured media environment and convince them to view the world through a prism of verifiable facts and reality rather than how they “feel” things are or should be. But that’s where we need to start: instead of wringing our hands that we cared too much about our most vulnerable populations, like trans people, immigrants, minorities, and women, maybe we need to remind the American people that the Right doesn’t care about them at all.
Former President Enemy of the People-Elect has nominated FCC commissioner Brendan Carr to be its next chairman. Carr is the guy who screamed about Kamala Harris being on Saturday Night Live violating equal time requirements, and is described by the campaign as a “warrior for Free Speech.” We’ll see.
Which goes to show The View has more backbone and professional journalistic ethics than Morning Joe, whose hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski went to Mar-A-Lago this weekend to kiss the ring.

JUST GOING TO RE-POST THIS HERE FOR NO GOOD GODDAMNED REASON, MIKA AND JOE.
Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.”
I’m disgusted.
fixed it

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Conan O’Brien is our next Oscars host, and I’m going to count this as a win because I could use one right now.
The big Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight on Netflix that some 60 million people attempted to stream live was riddled with technical issues, a ton of buffering and muddy images, angering viewers.

Also, there was so much Mike Tyson. Too much Mike Tyson.

With the huge news that Beyonce will perform as the halftime entertainment at the Houston Texans-Baltimore Ravens Christmas Day game which will be streamed live exclusively on Netflix, people are understandably concerned that the streamer won’t be able to handle the viewership.
Maybe splitting seasons isn’t the best plan, Netflix? Maybe just give us the entire season at once so we can glut on them like the TV pigs that we are?
Elmo needs to start charging for therapy.
Domingo is real. Long live Domingo.

Do not read this interview with Cate Blanchett about the ending of Disclaimer if you haven’t watched or finished it — it be FULL of spoilers — but it’s a very interesting perspective.
Betty White is getting her own postage stamp like the queen that she was.
What’s going on over at Dr. Phil’s network, Merit TV? Former Houston broadcaster Dominique Sachse has left the network less than a year into her contract; and now Professional Bull Riders have left the network only 13 weeks into their contract, claiming they haven’t been paid.
Kenya Moore is sorry for being awful to her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Brittany Eady.
Mike Flanagan includes this spooky prop in all of his projects as a little easter egg.
And apparently, he’s continuing the easter egg bit with his upcoming project, The Life of Chuck.
This is the most Jerry story I’ve ever heard.
