I guess everyone was excited to see who SNL got to play Tim Walz, because ratings hit a four-year high Saturday night. (Of course, you must notice that four year number — suggesting that people only really care about SNL during election years.)

And of course Kate McKinnon would return to SNL for its 50th season, duh. But don’t expect Vice President Harris or the Former Insulter-in-Chief to be on the show ahead of the election.

Point, Spirit Halloween:

Let me clear that up for y’all: Nicholas Alexander Chavez is not returning to General Hospital. Next question?

I regret to inform you that Kim and Kyle Richards are estranged again following another struggle with Kim’s substance abuse. I’m just glad Kim is no longer involved with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and hope she gets the help she needs.

CNN Premium, or whatever they’re calling it, will cost you $3.99 a month. Good luck with all that!

This morning, Kelly Ripa performed the most accurate portrayal of getting a mammogram I’ve ever seen. By the way, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month: get your screenings done!

Pinewood Studios, a British studio where Taskmaster, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars are filmed, is shutting down at the end of 2025. No word on what happens to those three series.

Rob Schneider continues to be the fucking worst. GO AWAY, SIR.

#MeToo

Two more women have sued Sean “Diddy” Combs for sexual abuse: Thalia Graves has sued Sean “Diddy” Combs for allegedly sexually assaulting her and videotaping the assault and showing it to others. And a Jane Doe has sued Combs claiming he “intimidated her, drugged her, raped her and impregnated her over several years starting in 2021.”

And they are unlikely to be the last: Houston attorney Tony Buzbee is reportedly representing more than 50 potential plaintiffs who claim they were sexually abused and intimidated by Combs and his associates.

Meanwhile, Combs’ lawyer tried to claim that the reason cops found 1,000 bottles of baby oil at his house was because he bought it in bulk at Costco, but Costco is like, “DON’T DRAG US INTO THIS.”

Beverley Mitchell, David Gallagher, and Mackenzie Rosman, the former stars of 7th Heaven who run the podcast Catching Up With the Camdens, spoke out about former co-star Stephen Collins’ sexual abuse ahead of their rewatch episodes. They note that they do not condone his behavior in any way, but acknowledge that he will have to be mentioned as he was such a “big part of the show and our lives.” It’s a fine line to thread.

A Secret Service member sexually harassed one of Kamala Harris’ female staffers because the Secret Service didn’t had enough going on right now.

True fact about me: I can listen to true crime podcasts all day long; I love horror movies and I love legal dramas. However, I cannot watch Law & Order: SVU because I find the stories entirely too disturbing. So I can completely understand why star Mariska Hargitay says being on the show for 25 years has left her with “secondary trauma.”

According to Bowen Yang, Sydney Sweeney was “practically begging” everyone to make jokes about her boobs on Saturday Night Live. And honestly, I don’t doubt this. Yang’s point is that she was not just in on the joke, she understood “how she was being consumed and perceived,” and instead of denying it, she chose to lean into it. Personally, I find the whole thing a little sad, but it is what it is, I guess.

Courtney Thorne-Smith reveals she refused to wear a “really sexy negligee” in one of her first movies when she was only 17 years old, prompting a producer to claim that the crew thought she was being “a baby” for objecting. (The crew actually supported her and praised her for standing up for herself.)

After an investigation, the BBC has apologized to Amanda Abbington for some — but not all — of her complaints about how she was treated during her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

Megyn Kelly points out that despite what she’s trying to claim in her Netflix stand-up special, Ellen has not been canceled because SHE HAS A NETFLIX STAND-UP SPECIAL.

Criminal charges will not be filed against former Dancing with the Stars dancer, Artem Chigvintsev.

One thought on “It must be an election year, because a bunch of people watched ‘SNL’ this weekend

  1. I would push back a bit against Megyn Kelly’s criticism of DeGeneres. By my lights, those who claim someone is “not cancelled” if their career still has a pulse are walking in the same ethical neighborhood as the Bush people who said waterboarding isn’t torture because it causes no permanent physical harm.
