‘Alice & Steve,’ ‘Sweet Magnolias,’ ‘Patience,’ and everything else you don’t want to miss on TV this week

MONDAY

Alice & Steve: LISTEN. I love Jemaine Clement, and so I’m going to trust that this new series in which he stars as a grown-ass man who falls in love with the (barely) adult daughter of his female best friend will be good and not just nightmare fuel, but it’s going to be a really heavy lift on this series’ part. Series premiere. Hulu

American Ninja Warrior: Season premiere. 8 p.m., NBC

Top Chef: A winner is chosen. Season finale. 8:30 p.m., Bravo

TUESDAY

Farmer Wants a Wife: Season finale. 7 p.m., Fox

Bear Grylls is Running Wild: Season finale. 8 p.m., Fox

Close Encounters of the Third Kind: Ahead of his next “aliens make contact” movie, get your mashed potatoes and relive Steven Spielberg’s original sci-fi classic. 7 p.m., TCM

WEDNESDAY

Every Year After: Prime Video leans into the YA romances with this new series that takes place over six years and one week in a quintessential lake town. Series premiere. Prime Video

The Floor: Season finale. 7 p.m., Fox

Outlast: The Jungle: “On a remote tropical island, 16 players must survive the elements, outmaneuver rivals and remain part of a team for a chance to win a $1 million prize.” So … it’s Survivor? Series premiere. Netflix

THURSDAY

Sweet Magnolias: Season five premiere. Netflix

Surviving Earth: This new docuseries explores the natural world as it was some 450 million years ago. Think La Brea, but without all the irritating humans running around being irritating. Series premiere. 7 p.m., NBC

Reality Bites: The best movie about Gen X shot in Houston. Also, it’s not particularly good. 9:15 p.m., TCM

FRIDAY

The Listeners: In this short limited series from the UK, a woman is tormented by a sound that very few others can hear. Series premiere. 8 p.m., Starz

Power Book III: Raising Kanan: Fifth season premiere. 7 p.m., Starz

Maternal Instinct: This true crime documentary follows the story of Taylor Parker, an East Texas woman who committed an unthinkable crime to prop up her web of lies. Premiere.  Netflix

SATURDAY

Midsommar: The perfect movie to watch ahead of the solstice. If someone suggests you put on a bear costume, DON’T.  8:35 p.m., HBO

Texas Two-Step: Summer Nights: In this variation of the Christmas Hallmark movie, a big city girl returns to Texas to help her aunt run her struggling bar and reconnects with her cowboy ex-boyfriend. 7 p.m., Hallmark

SUNDAY

Patience: Season two premiere. PBS

Grantchester: Season 11 premiere. (At what point does this much murder happening in this quaint English village become alarming?)  8 p.m., PBS

My Adventures with Superman: I did not know until now that Jack Quaid is the voice of Clark Kent in this animated series. Season three premiere. Adult Swim
