Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Everyone wants to talk about The Simpsons predicting the future, but if you want a show that is consistently predicting what is going to happen next in our current political hellscape, turn to The Boys. It’s so prescient that The Boys had to change the title of the season finale that premiered today from “Assassination Run” to “Season Four Finale,” and they had to add a warning ahead of the episode:

It was in early June that showrunner Eric Kripke said, “Sometimes we feel like we’re Satan’s writer’s room,” thanks to the way the show reflects current events so accurately. That statement was related to the way season four opened, with Homelander being on trial, shortly after Former President Felon had been convicted. A large part of this is that the series is a satire of our country’s descent into authoritarianism, and so, yeah, some fictional plots are going to rhyme with real events. But even still, maybe we should be grateful that the show is ending with season five?

The head of FX insists that The Bear is 1. a comedy and 2. best dropped all at once rather than released weekly. I mean, we all tell ourselves what we need, I suppose.

Amazon MGM is hinting that Fallout season two might be here sooner than expected: “We’ve got a plan that we’re moving very fast on. I can’t tell you an exact date, but I think everyone will be happy with how quickly we’re able to get back with Season 2.” !!! For whatever reason, it took me a while to finish this series — I loved it but found it hard to watch more than one episode at a time. At any rate, thrilled to get more soon, and beyond happy it was nominated for Best Drama.

Please stop laughing at Matthew Macfadyen, he is a Very Serious Actor, not a clown.

Entourage turns 20 years old today, and TV Line has a list of guest stars who have since become more famous. EXCEPT I ASSURE YOU, Carla Gugino, Scott Caan, and Yvette Nicole Brown had been around long before Entourage debuted.

This is a list of “TV Cancellations That Made No Sense” except they all make sense: they either were low-rated or too expensive to make. Are they all quality shows that more people should have watched when they were on the air? Absolutely, but that’s long been the story of television.

Francis Ford Coppola; The Grateful Dead; Bonnie Raitt; and jazz composer, trumpeter and pianist Arturo Sandoval will be your new Kennedy Center honorees.

Donald Glover is retiring the “Childish Gambino” name, which — who cares right? But there’s a connection to Foolish Watcher: I got the name for this site after putting my own name into a Wu-Tang Clan name generator after reading somewhere that’s where Glover came up with “Childish Gambino.” But I’m not retiring Foolish anytime soon, so.

Oh hey, David Zaslav’s direction for Warner Bros. Discovery isn’t working out and now he’s contemplating splitting the company somehow or maybe selling it for parts? Huh.

If you’re a Verizon customer, they’re offering a bundle where if you pay for Peacock, you can get Netflix Premium for free for one year.

Because we’re trying to cram every storyline into this one week, apparently, now President Biden has COVID-19. Leave something for the fall, writers!
