Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
After realizing that, AKSHULLY, HBO does have value as a brand, The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy will both become HBO shows, too, not just Max series. Technically, this is all about how certain shows are marketed and sold overseas, and doesn’t have much impact on how American audiences view the series (if you have Max, you’ll have access to the HBO shows) but it does demonstrate that Zaslav’s previous indifference to the value of HBO was wrong (along with pretty much everything else he’s done as the head of Warner Bros Discovery).
David Zaslav doesn’t care who’s President as long as it makes him more money (so he’s clearly a Republican), which is totally on brand.
CBS got hit with a $3.05 million penalty for keeping writers’ rooms open on three shows during the writers’ strike, in violation of The Writers Guild’s mutual bargaining agreement.
Hallmark is launching its own streamer: Hallmark+, because that stupid “+” is being added to everything apparently. It launches in September, Hallmark Movies Now is being folded into it, and will cost $7.99 per month.
Andy Cohen is out here calling Carson Daly a little bitch.
More nepo babies are weighing in on being nepo babies.
Hold up, we’re not done with Pat Sajack yet? I thought he retired and we all said goodbye already?
The darker parts of the Bridgerton fandom are a reminder that toxicity is not just for fans of Star Trek and Star Wars. This piece also poses an interesting question about how much a series — and its broadcaster (or streamer) — is responsible for protecting its actors from the worst of the fan hate. I love the inclusivity of Bridgerton and believe that casting people of color in the major roles and having the show’s universe not blink an eye at interracial love stories is inherently a good thing for both the storytelling and its viewership, even if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. ESPECIALLY if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. But the way some fans feel the right to lash out and attack the actors themselves is unconscionable, and someone more powerful should be protecting them from the worst of it.
Big Brother fans are freaking out that the live feed might not be happening this season, or will be delayed.
The final Game of Thrones books are never happening, y’all.
Today’s episode of Days of Our Lives marks Bill Hayes’ final appearance, and when you consider it’s with his real-life wife, it’s a bit of a tearjerker.
Get well soon, Whoopi Goldberg.

If you have Prime Video, 47 minutes to spare, and an affection for Shelley Duvall, you might check out “Bernice Bobs Her Hair,” a 1976 TV adaptation of a Fitzgerald story. It stars Duvall, Veronica Cartwright, and Bud Cort, and is written and directed by Joan Micklin Silver (“Hester Street,” “Crossing Delancey”). It’s pretty delightful.
Thanks, Stan!
