Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
So, the CNN “Town Hall” with Former President Twice Impeached that aired on CNN last night … I didn’t write about it much beforehand because I didn’t want to give it oxygen, and I’m not going to write that much about it now, after the fact, for the same reason. What I will say is:
1. Of course I thought it was a terrible idea to give the disgraced Former Insurrectionist a platform to re-legitimize him. That said, I also understood the arguments that he is, like it or not, the leading Republican candidate, and that it might actually be good to remind the American public of who this man is, was, and always will be: a disaster for this country and democracy as a whole.
2. But that was before I learned that CNN WOULD PUT HIM IN FRONT OF A CROWD MADE UP ENTIRELY OF HIS SUPPORTERS. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, CNN? This wasn’t a “town hall,” it was a rally.
3. And — not that this was surprising — he spent the entire 70+ minutes lying about everything from the border wall to Russia to E. Jean Carroll to the documents he stole to the election results to January 6th, with very little real time pushback from the moderator Kaitlan Collins (whom he called “nasty” at one point, because of course he did). Here’s to hoping Carroll sues him again for what he said about her last night.
Trump attacks Collins: You are a nasty person. pic.twitter.com/6BolrkgZPK
— Acyn (@Acyn) May 11, 2023
4. But despite CNN giving him an uncensored platform for him to spew all of these lies, the network is out there patting themselves on the back, saying that “America was served very well” by the town hall, and that Collins gave a “masterful” performance.

5. But not all CNN employees were on board: these folks called it a “fucking disgrace” and “brutal.”
6. Depressingly, some 3.1 million people tuned in.
Oy vey. Fire Chris Licht already, y’all.
This isn’t a town hall, it’s a Trump klan rally #CNNTownhall
— Palmer Report (@PalmerReport) May 11, 2023
What was the deal last night? Did Trump demand only his supporters be allowed to attend? And did CNN accede to his request? This is a real question.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) May 11, 2023
I thought this #CNNTownhall with Trump would be bad but it's much worse than I thought it would be.
The lack of follow-ups. The audience on his side. The mocking of a victim of sexual abuse. Sheesh.

“This insanity should be pulled off the fu*king air.” Rick Wilson torches CNN for their Trump Town Hall last night. pic.twitter.com/MhwhVOUi8n

He repeated this lie multiple times. Not challenged once. Just an epic fail. Jesus. ##CNNTownhall https://t.co/x5ffjvZTcp
— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) May 11, 2023
CNN should be ashamed of themselves.
They have lost total control of this “town hall” to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim.
The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.

Update: The proper thing for Chris Licht to do now is resign. https://t.co/RXdFXNHUug

CNN's humiliation is complete. https://t.co/MGE5v9vDXO

There were not fine people on both sides of Charlottesville.
The January 6th rioters were not good people.

On Disney’s earnings call, Bob Iger revealed that Disney will probably buy out Comcast’s stake in Hulu, and that Hulu will move to Disney+ by the end of the year. What does that mean? It sounds like Hulu will be made available on Disney+’s platform, but you will still have to pay extra for it.
Iger also threatened that Disney+ will be pulling an HBO Max and yanking content off the streamer. Better go watch Willow now if you were interested.
Also, Bob Iger gave DeSantis the finger.
Are the folks behind Justified: City Primeval threatening to kill Raylan? Sounds like it. (Or they are just trying to pretend he doesn’t have plot armor so as to create some tension. Who knows.)
NBC is making Olympic plans for next summer. The Games, which will take place in Paris, will be covered for nine hours every day across the NBCUniversal platforms, more than any other Games.
Because Netflix split season four of Stranger Things into two parts, only one actor is eligible to be nominated for an Emmy. It’s confusing.
BET+ will launch a cheaper, ad-supported tier.
How, after Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm, is anyone out here talking about a “Seinfeld curse?” Are y’all dumb?
How about some love for The Other Two‘s best character: Lance?
Here’s Cillian Murphy whinging about being famous. My heart weeps.

Jackie was the first person I spoke to when I walked on set to film my very first scene. I was so nervous, but she soothed me with hugs as she introduced herself. Jackie Z was the first person I really got to know back on GH in ‘81. We did many pa’s together and they were always great. She was always the perfect partner. Much later we worked on The Bay. And now I’ll never be able to work with her again. Her spark has gone. By babe.

“A documentary about the NFL draft is in the works at Roku.”
Didn’t Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner already do that with “Draft Day”?
