HBO has released its first official trailer for House of the Dragon, and I am trying to not get too excited about it, but y’all …

Again, this series — for which the ending has already been written, so no lazy showrunners will be able to completely muck it up — follows the so-called “Dance of the Dragons,” a succession fight amongst the Targaryens, marking the beginning of the end of their reign.

“Men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a woman ascend the Iron Throne.” DON’T I KNOW IT. Patriarchy and misogyny will be the death of us all, guys.

Kim Cattrall opened up about her decision to retire Samantha on Sex and the City in a recent interview with Variety. According to Cattrall, she wasn’t even asked to join the series, after rejecting a part in the third film (not that she would have accepted). She also claims the series is just a revamping of the third unmade film which would have focused on the aftermath of the death of Mr. Big. As for Samantha, her conflict would have been that she was receiving unsolicited dick pics from Miranda’s 14-year-old son. Gross. It’s gross to center a mature woman’s narrative around an underage child’s inappropriate behavior. There could have been a real opportunity here, either in the film or on the series, to explore and break taboos around an older woman’s sex life, and they blew it. I don’t blame Cattrall for walking away and preserving some sort of dignity for Samantha as a character.

There’s more to this interview, including talking about intimacy coordinators, how she doesn’t want to do nude scenes anymore, her work on How I Met Your Father and Queer as Folk, and confirming that Samantha is never ever ever coming back.

Vanity Fair has some “first look” photos and details of the second season of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.

Will there be a second season of Moon Knight? No one seems to know. And some contradictory tweets that suggested last night’s episode was either the series or season finale not only is adding to the confusion, it might hurt the series’ Emmy chances.

Hollywood is still doing a piss-poor job of representing characters with mental health issues. Very few characters are portrayed with mental health issues, and those who are tended to be white, male, straight, and able-bodied, and most of the time those characters were perpetrators of violence or disparaged because of their condition.

Well, this is messy.

  1. So I have a question. With the bloodbath over at TBS/TNT, what do you think Warner Bros./Discovery is going to do with them moving forward? Just sports and Friends reruns?

    1. Yeah, they just announced that TNT had acquired Lucifer reruns which makes me think that this is exactly the plan: use TNT and TBS for sports, reruns and where they will play Harry Potter marathons, until the eventual death of cable.
