All Other TV News
As you probably know if you’ve been reading this site for a while, I love horror and Halloween is my high holy season. As such, I have put together a list of some stuff you can stream this weekend if you want to get into a spooky mood over at Chron.com. My goal with this list was to include something from each of the biggest streamers, so even if you don’t subscribe to all of them, you should be able to find something on the services you do use. Let me know what you think! (And yes, Chucky is pretty fun! And no, Haunted Museum is not actually very good!)
This is not TV news, but the biggest entertainment story out there right now is that cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza injured on the set of the movie Rust when something went terribly wrong with a prop gun that Alec Baldwin discharged. An investigation has been opened, and Baldwin has cooperated with the authorities.
Hollywood is outraged and devastated and wondering how such a horrific accident could happen.
As is profoundly true in the art of cinematography, words alone cannot capture the loss of one so dear to the AFI community. At AFI, we pledge to see that Halyna Hutchins will live on in the spirit of all who strive to see their dreams realized in stories well told. pic.twitter.com/zhZphl81Us

My greatest fear is that someone will be fatally hurt on one of my sets. I pray this will never happen. My heart goes out to all of those affected by the tragedy today on Rust, especially Halyna Hutchins & her family.
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) October 22, 2021
I’m in shock. I was so lucky to have had Halyna Hutchins as my DP on Archenemy. An incredible talent & great person. I can’t believe this could happen in this day and age… gunfire from a prop gun could kill a crew member? What a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to her family pic.twitter.com/W479ch56Js
— JOE MANGANIELLO (@JoeManganiello) October 22, 2021
My heart breaks for the family and friends of Halyna Hutchins – this is just horrifying and devastating news.
— Mike Flanagan (@flanaganfilm) October 22, 2021
Six or seven years ago I was in the VFX trailer at #Supernatural watching one of the talented artisans digitally put a bullet in a gun in an insert shot. The technology has been there for awhile. Today was tragic but also avoidable.
— Danielle Turchiano (@danielletbd) October 22, 2021
Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on “Rust”. No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period. 💔
— Brandon Bruce Lee (@brandonblee) October 22, 2021
The Wrap has a piece explaining how a prop gun can turn deadly, but it doesn’t explain why VFX shouldn’t just be the standard at this point. What a sad, terrible story for everyone involved.
BREAKING: a fifty-something comedian doesn’t think another almost-50-something comedian intended to be “hurtful” when he told a bunch of transphobic jokes. Meanwhile, Dave Chappelle’s people are saying that he’s open to having a conversation with the Netflix employees upset by his special. OK.
So You, season three, is completely bonkers in all the best ways. If you have watched it, here’s what the showrunner is considering for season four, and whether — and how — Joe will ever be punished.
Also, be sure to read this very impassioned argument that Sherry Conrad is the real hero of the series.
Penn Badgley and Cardi B. started a mutual fan club this week on Twitter, going so far as to change their profile pics to each other’s faces. This led to Netflix changing their Twitter description to “Petition to get Cardi B to guest star in Season 4 of You!” and Cardi B replied thusly:
So it’s episode 1 and I’m at Paris Fashion week shutting it down! I turn around and there stands YOU
Ok finish it off @netflix 😌 pic.twitter.com/Y0TEKwlPbQ
— iamcardib (@iamcardib) October 21, 2021
Can I just note that I love that Cardi B thinks the protagonist’s name is “You?” Anyway, Penn Badgley is a mensch who for reasons that are too complicated to get into has spent the night in my son’s best friend’s childhood bedroom a few times now (not when the best friend was home, let me be clear), and I’m very much enjoying all of this.
This is a reminder that Curb Your Enthusiasm returns this weekend. This isn’t a spoiler, but from what I understand, the series will only briefly mention the pandemic. I find this baffling — I would think Larry David having to manage all the social pitfalls related to this pandemic would be ripe with possibilities. Anyway.
Don’t step to Ice-T on his TV history.
If you have $17.7 million, you can live like the Roses.
The Stranger Things Crosley Cassette Player Bundle, a working cassette player being sold at Walmart, will also “includes a cassette tape that holds a secret voicemail from a mystery character” in Season 4.
A local TV station in Spokane, Washington accidentally aired porn during their weather report and now the cops are involved.
Robert Durst is FINALLY being charged with murdering his wife almost 40 years ago.
Congratulations to Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas!

R.I.P.
Peter Scolari, Emmy-award-winning actor known for Bosom Buddies, Newhart, Girls, and Evil among many, many others.
No better partner.💔 pic.twitter.com/p5NFP8eLUm

My dear Peter. I’m devastated. Our set will never be the same without you. I will miss your stories, your laugh, your impressions, and your dance. We lost an artist, a gentleman, a comedian, and our #Evil family lost a friend today. Keep dancing my friend. I will miss you. #RIP pic.twitter.com/UU6CfCaO79

Peter Scolari, who died today, was one of the funniest—sneakily funny—actors we’ve worked with. He always took a nothing scene and found different ways to twist it, and throw in odd pauses that made it jump. I will try to collect my thoughts more. He was just wonderful. pic.twitter.com/25z6xgmD3f
— Robert King (@RKing618) October 22, 2021
To watch Peter Scolari’s dailies was a thrill because he always found new ways to go. He molded the highs and lows of a scene, but always looking for the comic spin, and he’d massage a phrase with each take until he could hear the laughter in his head. This is a real loss. pic.twitter.com/7AaERU2Rup

#RIP dear Peter Scolari. I was lucky enough to work with you and learn from you onstage and screen. A sweet funny cool dude. I hope you get gigs wherever you are
— Jackie Hoffman (@JackieHoffman16) October 22, 2021
I am heartbroken to hear about Peter Scolari this morning. He was honestly one of the funniest, most generous actors I ever got to work with. (And he taught me how to juggle!) He was a comic genius & I will forever be grateful that I was lucky enough to learn from him. 💔 pic.twitter.com/u30CVt4eRL

Sad to see the news that Peter Scolari lost his battle with cancer. There wasn't a sweeter man on the planet. We performed together in HAIRSPRAY for a time and he was always a total delight. Farewell, dear Peter.https://t.co/1TPjakwLT3
