Carol Burnett is returning to TV and Amy Poehler is the one bringing her back and this is exactly the kind of news we could all use these days. It’s a comedy about a family who buys the house of their dreams — but they have to live in it with the current owner, an older actress played by Burnett, until she dies. Yes to all of this.
In other development news:
- NBC bought Last Hope, a drama from Lee Child, the guy who created Jack Reacher.
- Salvation, a drama from one of the guys who gave us Fringe, is about an MIT student who discovers an asteroid is going to hit Earth in six months and it is going to be CBS’s next summer series.
- FOX has picked up a comedy about a young woman whose fiance comes out as gay.
- FOX also is developing Pushing, a comedy about a woman who is pushing forty and is trying to balance her family life with her career as a rock band manager.
- FOX is working on a comedy called B Team, which, yes, is a play off of The A Team and it stars a YouTube personality I’ve never heard of because I am old.

Freeform canceled Guilt, that show loosely based on Amanda Knox and that had Billy Zane just marching around, chewing the scenery like it were a ham sandwich. It could have been a fun guilty pleasure, but instead it was a boring slog. Adios, mofo.
America’s Next Top Model will return to VH1 on December 12, but it doesn’t matter because Tyra is not involved so it is dead to me.
