I’m sorry, Netflix, you seem to have misunderstood: we said we wanted more ‘Mindhunter,’ not more ‘Manifest.’

It’s important to find someone who will back you up no matter what.

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Alright friends. Before we get started with TV nonsense today, I’m going to gently ask you (and not for the last time) to check the status of your voter registration. We are a little over a month before voter registration closes here in Texas, and the State is up to some fuckery ahead of the midterms. Governor Abbott proudly announced that they’ve “purged” over a million voters from the rolls for being “ineligible,” but even the state admits that some of the folks they purged were mistakes. Oopsie! So, please take a few minutes to check your registration status and make sure you’re ready to vote this fall.

If you are in Texas, you can check your registration here. (And be sure to check a few more times before October 5th, as they intend to keep purging.)

If you are anywhere else in the country, check your registration here.

And if I can make one further plea, please consider voting early. Harris County has almost 100 races on the ballot, so voting is going to take a long time and Election Day is going to be chaotic. Early voting begins October 19. Make a plan.

Oh, and did I mention he’s pretending he’s changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America? If that’s not a reason to register to vote or double-check that you’re still registered, I don’t know what is.

Starting today, it’s going to cost you more to watch Ted Lasso

Now Chris Hansen is threatening to sue over Primetime. I don’t think he’s over it, y’all.

JUST MAKE THE THIRD SEASON OF MINDHUNTER ALREADY. There’s nothing preventing y’all from JUST MAKING THE THIRD SEASON RIGHT NOW. In fact, IN FACT, instead of making a Manifest spinoff (see below), HOW ABOUT JUST MAKING THE THIRD SEASON OF MINDHUNTER?

The streamers are producing new seasons of TV a little faster. Not where it should be, but any improvement is welcome.

Julia Fox hexed Adults, and I completely believe this.

Sunny … girl, are you OK?

AND STAY AWAY, BITCH.

Oh, doesn’t feel great when one of your respected journalistic colleagues is being attacked by a lying, cheating asshole, does it, Fox News?

CNN had to apologize to the Parton family after including a Dolly impersonator’s photo during coverage of her death. Personally, I think Dolly would have gotten a kick out of it.

Break out the bubble wrap.

If you’re looking to have a Dolly or Tim marathon this weekend, you can find their movies on these platforms.

And if you want to watch Dolly’s movies in a theater, that can happen too.

Oh no … The Onion made me tear up.

Jelly Roll had an emotional final episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! in which he opened up a little more about his politics:

Look out for your grandmas: Jen Shah’s out of prison.

Congratulations, Michael Strahan and Kayla Quick.

Ms. Gladys Knight, I say this with love: YOU BETTER HANG ON. But by all means, enjoy your life; you’ve more than earned that.

WATCH THIS

FRIDAY

Dark Matter: It’s been a long hiatus, but season two is finally here.Season premiere. Apple TV

The Whisper Man: Adam Scott, Robert DeNiro and Hamish Linklater star in this thriller about a writer who turns to his estranged father when his 8-year-old son is kidnapped in a town with a history of a serial killer. You had me at Adam Scott and Hamish Linklater. Premiere. Netflix

The Wrong Housemaid: Not to be confused with The Housemaid. Do not watch this expecting Sydney Sweeney because she’s not here. 7 p.m., Lifetime Movie Network

SATURDAY

Saturday Night College Football: College football is back. So much college football everywhere. Hooray.  6 p.m., ABC (But really, all day on all channels, cannot escape)

Stand By Me: This movie came out 40 years ago, and you’re old. 8:30 p.m., HBO West

The Limey: If you’ve never seen this 1999 masterpiece starring Terrance Stamp as a man on a mission to avenge his daughter, I implore you to watch it. Stamp is absolutely riveting, and the themes resonate today. 9 p.m., Starz Cinema

SUNDAY

Paranormal Activity marathon: I am going to be completely honest with you: I am only including this because there is literally nothing else on today. Nothing. Oh, I mean, there’s plenty of WWE to go around and golf and AEW, but in terms of actual television that you want to watch? Not so much. We are in the thick of summer TV right now, and it sucks. Anyway, I’m going to go see the Broadway show of Paranormal Activity in a couple of weeks. Yes, that’s a thing! And yes, it sounds like a terrible idea! But I’ll let you know! 3:30 p.m., The Movie Channel Xtra

Robot Chicken 25th Anniversary Special: Robot Chicken came out 25 years ago, and you are still old. Adult Swim
