‘The Bear,’ ‘Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness,’ ‘In the Hand of Dante,’ more World Cup, and everything else you don’t want to miss on TV this week

MONDAY

Sullivan’s Crossing: Maggie makes a difficult decision in the season finale. 7 p.m., The CW

Harry Wild: Harry, Fergus, and Charlie are pulled into a dangerous case, this time with the assistance of a new pathologist. Season premiere. Acorn TV

All American: The Final Season Special: A celebration of the series ahead of its final season next month. 8 p.m., The CW

TUESDAY

World Cup: I asked my soccer-loving husband which of today’s matches I should highlight, and he suggested England v. Ghana, explaining that Ghana is known for being a team that seems easy to defeat, but who can actually trip up a strong contender. I personally think he suggested it because he’s a big Premier League fan and might be secretly rooting for England to win it all, but what do I know? 3 p.m., Fox

NBA Draft: New York has barely cleaned up the ticker tape, and we’re out here doing the draft already? OK. 7 p.m., ABC

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: But seriously, have there ever been two more beautiful men on the screen together? 9:15 p.m., TCM

WEDNESDAY

In the Hand of Dante: This completely bonkers-looking movie stars: Oscar Isaac, Gerard Butler, John Malkovich, Jason Momoa, Al Pacino, Martin Scorsese, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Gal Gadot. Not entirely sure what it’s about? Someone trying to get their hands on Dante’s original Paradiso manuscript? But it certainly looks … ambitious.  Netflix

Avatar: Fire and Ash: Streaming premiere. Disney+

Wild Cherry: Another series about how the lives of the rich and powerful aren’t as perfect as they seem. Secrets! Scandals! Etc! Series premiere.  Paramount+

A Woman of Substance: A new adaptation of the story of a young woman who goes from being a servant to a titan of business out of sheer force of will. Series premiere. Britbox

The American Experiment: A five-part examination of the improbable American experiment, which we are still testing: Can people really govern themselves? Series premiere. Netflix

THURSDAY

The Bear: The final season drops, but I don’t know what to tell you to expect with episode descriptions like: “A storm hits,” or “A seating chart.” Do with that what you will. Season premiere and series finale. Thank you, The Bear, you’ve truly been great.  Hulu

World Cup: USA v. Türkiye. U!S!A! U!S!A! U!S!A! 9 p.m., Fox

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season two. Netflix

CMA Fest: Jelly Roll and Ashley McBryde host. 7 p.m., ABC

FRIDAY

Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: Larry David’s new show (produced by the Obamas) appears to be what would happen if Drunk History and Curb Your Enthusiasm had a baby, and I am here for it. Series premiere. 8 p.m., HBO

Little Brother: Eric Andre and John Cena star improbably as brothers in this new comedy. Premiere. Netflix

Strung: Chloe Bailey stars as a talented violinist hired to tutor the child of a wealthy family who finds herself fighting for her sanity and survival. Premiere. Peacock

SATURDAY

Undertone: A host of a paranormal podcast becomes haunted by mysterious recordings in this horror film with decidedly mixed reviews. It sounds like if you prefer atmospheric horror, you’ll enjoy this one, but if you are looking for a jump scare, this won’t be your thing. Premiere.  7 p.m., HBO

World Cup: I’m going to recommend two games. Up first: Colombia and Portugal, which could prove to be a strong match. 6:30 p.m., Fox

World Cup: And the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uzbekistan because I’ve become a fan of the DR Congo since they set up shop here in Houston. 6:30 p.m., FS1

SUNDAY

From: Season four finale. MGM+

BET Awards: Druski hosts. 7 p.m., BET
