Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
@yourpal_austin And the best part is there will be zero consequences.
Attorney General Pam Bondi testified before Congress yesterday, and it was a complete shitshow. Bondi refused to acknowledge, much less apologize to the Epstein survivors; screamed about how President Sex Monster is the “greatest President in American history,” and that the Dow Jones has topped 50,000; brought a “burn book” that listed crimes that had been committed in the Democrats’ districts (as if they are responsible for prosecuting crimes); and, apparently, also brought evidence that the DoJ is keeping track of what Congress is looking at within the Epstein Files which is a violation of the separation of powers. She accused one Congresswoman whose grandfather died in the Holocaust of being antisemitic and screamed at another when he accused her of perjuring herself. It was a LOT.
Hmmm … the Department of Justice just fired the head of the antitrust department, Gail Slater, who was overseeing the Warner Bros./Netflix deal. This feels fishy.
After host Nicole Curtis was caught on camera using the N-word as an expletive, HGTV has canceled her show, Rehab Addict, and scrubbed the show online. The video in question can be found here on Radar, in which Curtis uses the word and immediately asks the crew to “kill” the clip. It’s bad.
“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees – it does not align with the values of HGTV. Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”
She also says through her team to The Detroit News that she is “deeply saddened by the hurt her words have caused. She takes full responsibility for their impact, regardless of context. What occurred was a clear slip of the tongue — a mistaken version of one of her well-known expressions — spoken after 17 hours of physically demanding work and very little sleep. Even so, she understands that intent does not erase impact, and she is truly sorry.”
I don’t know, it sure came out of her mouth very easily.
One of the CBS News producers who took a buyout wrote a blistetring note to her colleagues about the direction the organization is headed under Bari Weiss, which included: “Stories may instead be evaluated not just on their journalistic merit but on whether they conform to a shifting set of ideological expectations — a dynamic that pressures producers and reporters to self-censor or avoid challenging narratives that might trigger backlash or unfavorable headlines.” They are sounding all of the alarms.
President Lawfare’s lawsuit against the BBC has been set for 2027. We’ll see.
Apple TV has just acquired full rights to Severance, and is contemplating spinoffs, prequels, and foreign versions. This deal also may have determined how long the series will run on Apple (see below).
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s mediation didn’t work out yesterday. This is my shocked face.
Savannah Guthrie has posted another video to her Instagram saying that she is still praying for their mother and not giving up on her.
James Van Der Beek still has some projects in the pipeline: He will recur in Prime Video’s Elle, the Legally Blonde prequel; he has appearances in Overcompensating, and will appear in the film The Gates.
Here’s where to watch Van Der Beek’s most iconic performances, including Dawson’s Creek; Varsity Blues; Rules of Attraction; and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.
A GoFundMe supporting Van Der Beek’s family raised over $1.5 million in less than 24 hours after the announcement of his death. One of the great tragedies of Van Der Beek’s passing — and a bleak statement about our health care system in general — is that his cancer treatments were so prohibitively expensive, he began resorting to selling his own memorabilia to afford them, and it left his family’s finances depleted. If a household name can’t afford health care in our system and leaves his family in such financial uncertainty after his death, what hope is there for the rest of us?
Remembrances came flooding in:
“I’m so sad for your beautiful family. While James’ legacy will always live on, this is a huge loss to not just your family but the world. F*ck Cancer.” — Sarah Michelle Gellar
“Sending love and light to your beautiful family. James was a giant. We’re so so so sorry for what you’re going through. His words, art and humanity inspired all of us – he inspired us to be better in all ways. God bless you guys.” — Chad Michael Murray

I had the pleasure of working with James Van Der Beek on Power/Rangers. There’s a shot in here where he lifts his boot on the table and the camera spins with him. He smiled approvingly when I blocked it and played to the camera. He knew. He gave me his time and support…

James Van Der Beek was a special man. So enjoyed our visit two months ago at his Texas ranch. He was reflective that day…focusing on the most important parts of this journey we’re on – God, family, especially those six kids, and the “gift” he says cancer gave him. RIP James. pic.twitter.com/LiNGmylw1B

My heart is broken for the Van Der Beek family. He was such a nice person and wonderful actor. I don’t know what else to say. This one has me a bit shaken.

I was originally attached to Varsity Blues then replaced by him after his show blew up. I envied him, resented him, came to admire him, then truly respect him as an actor, as a man, and as a father. He was so special. #RIPjamesvanderbeek ❤️

This is really rough. Millennial’s like me grew up with him on our tv’s every week and staring in iconic teen movies. He really seemed to have a lot of the meaning of life figured out…
Prayers to his wife, children and loved ones.

I’ve today learned that my dear friend James Van Der Beek, with whom I worked with on The Rules of Attraction, who has been a pillar of strength to me and my family during the hardest of times, passed away last night. I knew he was fighting a terrible battle with courage and…

Really saddened at this news. I didn’t really know James Van Der Beek, but you could feel his heart. What a loss – and how bravely and intentionally he chose to help people through his experience. He just seemed like a great person and loving family man and he gave the world so…
