Maybe don’t throw around racial slurs if you want to keep your home renovation series.

Attorney General Pam Bondi testified before Congress yesterday, and it was a complete shitshow. Bondi refused to acknowledge, much less apologize to the Epstein survivors; screamed about how President Sex Monster is the “greatest President in American history,” and that the Dow Jones has topped 50,000; brought a “burn book” that listed crimes that had been committed in the Democrats’ districts (as if they are responsible for prosecuting crimes); and, apparently, also brought evidence that the DoJ is keeping track of what Congress is looking at within the Epstein Files which is a violation of the separation of powers. She accused one Congresswoman whose grandfather died in the Holocaust of being antisemitic and screamed at another when he accused her of perjuring herself. It was a LOT.

Hmmm … the Department of Justice just fired the head of the antitrust department, Gail Slater, who was overseeing the Warner Bros./Netflix deal. This feels fishy.

After host Nicole Curtis was caught on camera using the N-word as an expletive, HGTV has canceled her show, Rehab Addict, and scrubbed the show online. The video in question can be found here on Radar, in which Curtis uses the word and immediately asks the crew to “kill” the clip. It’s bad.

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees – it does not align with the values of HGTV. Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”

Curtis apologized on TMZ: “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”

She also says through her team to The Detroit News that she is “deeply saddened by the hurt her words have caused. She takes full responsibility for their impact, regardless of context. What occurred was a clear slip of the tongue — a mistaken version of one of her well-known expressions — spoken after 17 hours of physically demanding work and very little sleep. Even so, she understands that intent does not erase impact, and she is truly sorry.”

I don’t know, it sure came out of her mouth very easily.

One of the CBS News producers who took a buyout wrote a blistetring note to her colleagues about the direction the organization is headed under Bari Weiss, which included: “Stories may instead be evaluated not just on their journalistic merit but on whether they conform to a shifting set of ideological expectations — a dynamic that pressures producers and reporters to self-censor or avoid challenging narratives that might trigger backlash or unfavorable headlines.” They are sounding all of the alarms.

President Lawfare’s lawsuit against the BBC has been set for 2027. We’ll see.

Apple TV has just acquired full rights to Severance, and is contemplating spinoffs, prequels, and foreign versions. This deal also may have determined how long the series will run on Apple (see below).

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s mediation didn’t work out yesterday. This is my shocked face.

Savannah Guthrie has posted another video to her Instagram saying that she is still praying for their mother and not giving up on her.

James Van Der Beek still has some projects in the pipeline: He will recur in Prime Video’s Elle, the Legally Blonde prequel; he has appearances in Overcompensating, and will appear in the film The Gates.

Here’s where to watch Van Der Beek’s most iconic performances, including Dawson’s Creek; Varsity Blues; Rules of Attraction; and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

A GoFundMe supporting Van Der Beek’s family raised over $1.5 million in less than 24 hours after the announcement of his death. One of the great tragedies of Van Der Beek’s passing — and a bleak statement about our health care system in general — is that his cancer treatments were so prohibitively expensive, he began resorting to selling his own memorabilia to afford them, and it left his family’s finances depleted. If a household name can’t afford health care in our system and leaves his family in such financial uncertainty after his death, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Remembrances came flooding in:

“To Kimberly, With much love, we are here for you. Your Dawson’s Creek family will always be here for you and your beautiful family. To everyone, thank you for your outpouring of love. It has been felt. Several times today, from my heart, I’ve tried to form the words to express the beautiful brilliance of James and what his presence has meant to my life. But I am truly at a loss for words. I will have to trust that one day those words will come… But today, all I can think about is Kimberly and the entire Van Der Beek family. My heart is with you. K” — Kevin Williamson

“I’m so sad for your beautiful family. While James’ legacy will always live on, this is a huge loss to not just your family but the world. F*ck Cancer.” — Sarah Michelle Gellar

“Beautiful human inside and out. Smart, funny, empathic, kind, talented and just pure magic. I’m so grateful for our friendship and so heartbroken. All my love goes out to his amazing wife Kimberly and their children.” — Krysten Ritter

“Sending love and light to your beautiful family. James was a giant. We’re so so so sorry for what you’re going through. His words, art and humanity inspired all of us – he inspired us to be better in all ways. God bless you guys.” — Chad Michael Murray

“My heart is deeply hurting for all of us today…every person who knew James and loved him, anyone who loved his work or had the pleasure of meeting him, all of his dear friends and community that surrounded him as he battled this illness, especially his parents and brother and sister. But I am profoundly heartbroken for his incredible wife Kimberly and their six magical children. There is a go fund me for them to help out and i’ll put the link in my stories. James Van Der Beek was one in a billion and he will be forever missed and i don’t know what else to say. i am just so so sad. He was my friend and i loved him and i’m so grateful for our friendship all these years.❤️” — Busy Philipps

“Devastated to hear about James Van Der Beek. What an extraordinary, talented man who also showed great kindness and grace in every action. Praying all the angels watch over his family during this difficult time.” — Reese Witherspoon
