Oh, I’ll get to Rev. Budde’s beautiful sermon in a moment. But first, a prayer:

At a service at the National Cathedral yesterday, Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde used her sermon to plead with President Didn’t Put His Hand on the Bible During His Swearing-In, and Vice President Potato to “have mercy” on the immigrant and LGBTQ communities. It was beautiful and moving and an important appeal to power to behave CHRISTIANLY, and Rev. Budde is a brave woman deserving of this country’s respect.
@nbcnews President Donald Trump attends a national prayer service at the National Cathedral, where Episcopal Right Reverend Budde addresses him directly.
“Let me make one final plea, Mr. President: Millions have put their trust in you, and as you told the nation yesterday, you have felt the providential hand of a loving God,” she began. “In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives. The people who pick our crops, and clean our office buildings, who labor in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes after we eat in restaurants and work the night shifts in hospitals… they may not be citizens or have the proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals. They pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, udara and temples.
“I ask you to have mercy, Mr. President, on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away, and that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion and welcome here,” Rev. Budde continued. “Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger, for we will all want strangers in this land. May God grant us the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth to one another in love, and walk humbly with each other and our God for the good of all people — good of all people in this nation and the world.”
I keep seeing takes that she was “calling out” President Fascist. This is not correct. She never accuses him of anything, she just reminds the assembled of Christian obligations to the least of us. If he wants to take this as an insult or confrontation, that’s telling, isn’t it?
And so of course, he’s demanding that she and the church apologize to him (for what? for what, exactly, Donnie? tell me EXACTLY what she should apologize for), and one dumbass congressman is calling for this woman who was born in New Jersey to be deported.
Rev. Budde appeared on The View this morning to talk about the “controversy”: My responsibility yesterday morning was to reflect, to pray with the nation for unity, and as I was pondering what are the foundations of unity, I wanted to emphasize respecting the honor and dignity of every human being, basic honesty and humility. And then I also realized that in that that unity requires a certain degree of mercy.”
Rev. Budde is a true Christian — and that’s the problem the Right has with her: she reminds them that they are not, in fact, upholding true Christian values with their policies and priorities. I hope fellow Christians, especially those in halls of power, take her words to heart.
LOL: His inauguration ratings were down from both 2017 and 2021. Good.
President I Can’t Believe He’s President Again will give his first interview to Sean Hannity, obviously.
Bad news about Titkok.

High Potential being renewed is great news. They have absolutely nailed that show.
Yes! Very good show.
I saw Rev. Budde’s sermon and was impressed. (I’ve never been more proud to be Episcopalian,) You’re right. She didn’t accuse him of anything, she just asked that he show compassion. “Only a guilty man runs when no one pursues.”
