Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Oh, this is interesting: Kurt Sutter has left his own Netflix series, The Abandons, just three weeks before it was set to wrap filming. The ol’ “creative differences” is being thrown around, but I look forward to hearing the real story.

I was joking when I suggested that the Abbott Elementary crossover would involve It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia because how would that even work — one is a sweet family workplace comedy the other is DECIDEDLY not sweet and DECIDEDLY not family, though technically it is a workplace comedy. But it looks like it’s happening and I am just thrilled that Abbott Elementary and Paddy’s Pub exist in the same universe. Thank you, TV Gods!

Now Quinta needs to find a role for Golden Bachelorette Joan.

Matthew Broderick didn’t appear on Sex & The City because their schedules didn’t line up, but really because, “it was like, ‘Do you want to do two days as the premature ejaculator?’ And I’d be like, ‘You know, I don’t know, it’s just kind of embarrassing.’” And that’s valid. He doesn’t need that.

That Community movie isn’t happening anytime soon, guys.

Will Ferrell asked that Netflix put out Will & Harper ahead of the election because he’s a mensch.

Gene Takavic nearly worked at a Hot Topic instead of a Cinnabon.

Sarah Paulson is teasing that she might return to American Horror Story and not a moment too soon, ma’am.

A quick Menendez Brothers update — look, I’m as sick of talking about this as anyone but actual news is being made so …

The Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said prosecutors are reviewing new evidence in the Menendez brothers’ case and will make a decision on whether or not they think they deserve a resentencing.  And by “new evidence” they mean a letter that Erik wrote to a cousin mentioning the abuse which was found six months ago and the news that one of the former members of Menudo claims that José Menendez sexually abused him as a teenager, too, a story that came out … lemme check … EIGHTEEN MONTHS AGO.

So, yeah, it’s kinda hard to not think that the popularity of Ryan Murphy’s limited series about the case, which the Menendez brothers and their family are Very Mad about, didn’t have something to do with yesterday’s announcement — the timing is pretty obvious.

And Murphy is obviously taking credit: “As I’ve said, this show is the best thing that’s happened to those brothers in 30 years because it just put a spotlight on their case.” He’s also threatening to make new episodes: “I think what I would be interested in doing, if Nicholas [Alexander Chavez] and Cooper [Koch] would agree to do it, is maybe one or two episodes that continue the story,” Murphy told [Variety] Thursday afternoon.

Also happening: Kim Kardashian has written a piece for NBC News claiming that the Menendez brothers are not “monsters” and deserve to be released from prison.

If Frances Cobain and Riley Hawk’s baby didn’t turn us all into grandparents, Gen X, Hailie Jade Mathers’ DEFINITELY will.
