Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Oh, damn: The Drew Barrymore Show‘s three head writers are refusing to return to the show now that the strike is over. If you remember, Drew Barrymore announced that the show would be coming back without the writers, only to be shamed into postponing the show until the end of the writers’ strike. The show is set to return on October 16.
And honestly, good for Chelsea White, Cristina Kinon, and Liz Koe. They shouldn’t stay with a show and a host that thought so little of their contributions that they thought they could go on without them.
Roy Wood Jr. has announced he’s leaving The Daily Show as a correspondent while they search for a new host. He’s open to hosting, however, should Comedy Central come to their senses and offer him the job. (But his leaving suggests to me that he knows that is not going to happen.) And just like The Drew Barrymore head writers, GOOD FOR HIM. He shouldn’t stay on a show that doesn’t appreciate him.
Love this for him. Roy is so incredibly talented and honestly I expect him to pull a John Oliver/Sam Bee and have a hit show within the next year. https://t.co/gfgd9NulZa

Okay see now I have to tell @roywoodjr ‘s business. So my first day of being a correspondent was a total disaster (a story for another time). So I texted Roy in a panic the next morning. He spent an hour, at about 6am, teaching me how to do the job and hyping me up…

Also, thanks to his advice I fucking nailed it day 2.

The Drew Barrymore writers refusing to return, Roy Wood Jr. walking away from The Daily Show… if you learned only one thing from the last 5 months, I hope it’s how valuable you are 👏🏽

First it was Drew Barrymore’s writers and now it’s Roy Wood Jr. doing what needs to be done.

Our Flag Means Death is based on a real pirate who hung out with Blackbeard, Stede Bonnet, but he wasn’t nearly as charming as the show makes out. According to legend, he created the whole concept of walking the plank — although some historians suggest that came much later. Anyway, the delightful little pirate show comes back today. Give it a looksee.
Not on Teachers’ Week … :
Shouldn’t it be Teachers’ Week, meaning all teachers?

Prepare yourself for a Six Feet Under resurgence. The show that has what George R.R. Martin calls the perfect finale is about to hit Netflix and a bunch of Gen-Zers are about to have their minds blown.
Dana Carvey shared this unaired SNL sketch featuring Phil Hartman, perhaps one of the last bits of unseen footage of Hartman 25 years after his untimely death. (It’s also pretty funny.)
This is one of my favorite #SNL short films. The brilliant Robert Smigel (@TriumphICDHQ ) wrote it – and recruited me to play #Chaplin. I thought its premise was inspired. And I never turn down an opportunity to play Chaplin. Unfortunately it never made it to air.
