Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
The WGA and the AMPTP are going to try this negotiating thing again tomorrow. Fingers crossed. But not holding my breath.
We have an official Emmys date: Fox is getting their way, and the prizes will be handed out on January 15. The Golden Globes, for reference, will be on January 7 and the Critics Choice Awards will be on January 14. Let’s hope some movement happens on this strike so it doesn’t end up pushed back even further.
The Television Critics Association handed out their big prizes this weekend and I rarely say this but: no notes.
Disney is jacking up the price of Disney+ to $13.99 a month and Hulu (without ads) to a whopping $17.99 a month, but you can get an ad-free Disney+/Hulu bundle for $9.99 and without ads for $19.99 a month.
Oh, and Disney’s about to crack down on password sharing, too. Obviously.
Well, that didn’t take long. Bye.
IT WAS MICHAEL COHEN WHO TOOK THE PHOTO OF TOM AT THE REGENCY AHEAD OF HIS WEDDING TO THE COUNTESS. (If none of those words mean anything to you, I apologize but IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW.)

Here’s an interview with the “Golden Bachelor” and he sounds just as boring and vanilla as the regular Bachelors.
Here are all the VMA nominees. Quite the year for the ladies!
Lol, someone doesn’t want to be sued out of existence:

Congratulations to Wayne Brady who has come out as pansexual. (And I’m sure this has nothing to do with his family’s upcoming reality show because I’m just being cynical.)
Just follow Wayne Brady’s lead and come on out already, Kyle.
Please keep Maui in your thoughts, and here’s an easy way to help.

Bill Friedkin was a brilliant director and a friend. I'll miss him as both. Rest in pease, Bill.

The world has lost one of the Gods of Cinema. Cinema has lost a true Scholar and I have lost a dear, loyal and true friend. William Friedkin has left us. We were blessed to have him. pic.twitter.com/6Mi0EL1gla

Very sorry to hear of the passing of William Friedkin, a deeply talented filmmaker. THE EXORCIST is great, but for me the real classic was SORCERER.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) August 7, 2023
It was an honor to have numerous lengthy chats via Twitter with William Friedkin. He also sent word through his wife to one of my producers that he watched & loved The Black Phone— a gesture I will always treasure. The Exorcist and Sorcerer are 2 of the greatest films ever made. pic.twitter.com/hGEbfpaJnA

I’m so saddened about the passing of William Friedken. He was an incredible inspiration and influence on my career. He was always incredibly positive about the industry and generous with his mentorship to other filmmakers.

RIP William Friedkin, one of the best to ever do it.
I got to meet him at his house this year, & told him what an influence SORCERER was on Phil & me. If you haven’t seen it, it’s not about a wizard, it’s about transporting TNT thru the jungle, and is a master class in tension. pic.twitter.com/jtpQL9DxAF— Christopher Miller (@chrizmillr) August 7, 2023

Robbie Robertson, Lead singer guitarist and songwriter for The Band
Martin Scorsese released a statement: “Robbie Robertson was one of my closest friends, a constant in my life and my work. I could always go to him as a confidante. A collaborator. An advisor. I tried to be the same for him. Long before we ever met, his music played a central role in my life — me and millions and millions of other people all over this world. The Band’s music, and Robbie’s own later solo music, seemed to come from the deepest place at the heart of this continent, its traditions and tragedies and joys. It goes without saying that he was a giant, that his effect on the art form was profound and lasting. There’s never enough time with anyone you love. And I loved Robbie.”
Simon Carlyle, Co-creator of BBC sitcom Two Doors Down
Jamie Reid, “Anarchist, artist, and graphic designer who pioneered the cut-and-paste punk design aesthetic”

Just a note: Robbie Robertson was not the lead singer of The Band. He was the lead guitarist and chief songwriter. In fact, he very seldom sang or he sang into a dead mike, because he really wasn’t a very good singer. Great guitarist and songwriter, absolutely. Singer, not so much.
Thank you, Kenny — I knew better. Had a difficult, distracted day. Thank you for the correction.

That article about the D+/Hulu increases made me more confused than I was before I started lol
