Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Former President About to be Indicted for Insurrection is about to be indicted for insurrection. I am going to save my breathless post for when it actually happens — which might not be for weeks, but this is likely happening, guys. Stay tuned. And chill another bottle of champagne. (Maybe two, if the news from Georgia turns out to be what we think it will be …)

The Emmy nominations came out last week, and I hope to devote a post to them sometime later this week. (We will see.) However, now that the Writers have been joined by the Screen Actors Guild on the strike lines, it’s looking less and less likely the Emmys will take place in September. The Television Academy wants to reschedule the ceremony for November, while Fox, who will be broadcasting them this year, wants to push them off until January, so as to not conflict with the NFL schedule. In any event, voting for the Emmys will proceed on schedule.

Peacock is raising its prices … right in the middle of both of these strikes. Good luck with all that!

Sounds like that live Love is Blind reunion won’t be happening again, thank God. BECAUSE HONESTLY WHAT IS THE POINT?

As for the future of a queer Love is Blind season, the producer (who did a queer version of The Ultimatum) is open to it — they would just have to figure out the logistics.

The mystery of the bleeped restaurant on the premiere of Real Housewives of New York might have been solved by Brian Moylan of Vulture.

True story: As I’ve mentioned before, my husband’s private school in Philadelphia was the inspiration for the school in The Goldbergs, and Adam Goldberg was one of his classmates (although he was a couple of years younger than my husband). Another student of “William Penn Academy” (not its actual name) was, unfortunately, the deplorable Jesse Watters. Again, he was younger than my husband, but Watters’ father was a teacher there, and as my husband remembers Watters’ parents, “They are very lovely and very liberal people.” He was flabbergasted that Jesse was their son. So it’s not a surprise that on the debut of his new Fox News show in Tucker’s old timeslot, Jesse’s mother would call in and be the voice of not just reason — but of reasonableness.

“I have enjoyed the show. I want to say congratulations to you honeybun, we are proud of you and your accomplishments, and you’ve worked so hard. Now let’s aim to have you keep your job. And to that end, I do have some suggestions,” Wattters’ mom said.

“Do not tumble into any conspiracy rabbit hole. We do not want to lose you and we want no lawsuits. In keeping with the Hippocratic Oath, do no harm. We need you to be kind and respectful. You yourself mentioned that humble is a stretch, so I get that. Use your voice responsibly to promote conversation that maintains a narrative thread.

“There has been enough Biden bashing, and the laptop is old. Perhaps you can suggest that your people take less interest, for example, in other people’s bodies and talk about that.”

Brian Cox is a cranky old man who thinks you youngins are ruining everything.

Doesn’t sound like you should be setting up your Lando advent calendar anytime soon.

I mentioned the FIFA Women’s World Cup in the weekly what to watch roundup, but here’s a better schedule for the games that Fox will broadcast. U!S!A! U!S!A! U!S!A!

Love is dead.

Love is truly dead.

AH, JONAH HILL. Before we get into this Jonah Hill story, let me note that a friend of mine who is a reporter who covers a lot of entertainment stories, he interviewed Hill over a decade ago, and came away from said interview thinking that Hill was a humorless jerk. Hill was self-important, rude, and impatient and my friend, who has interviewed countless celebrities over the course of his career, came away saying that Hill was the biggest asshole he had ever had the displeasure to talk to.

All of this is a long way to go to say that the story that Hill tried to control his ex-girlfriend’s behavior, her dress, and the people she could spend time with, all the while couching it in therapy-speak, this comes as absolutely no surprise to me.

Professional Sarah Brady met Jonah Hill after he slid into her DMs on her Instagram account — an account that features pictures of her surfing. So it’s ironic that he, of all people, would make these demands:

HE CHOSE TO DATE AN ATHLETE, AND THEN TRIED TO TELL HER TO STOP DOING ALL OF THE THINGS THAT ARE PART OF HER CAREER AS AN ATHLETE BECAUSE IT VIOLATED HIS “BOUNDARIES.”

And for all the men out there who see nothing wrong with any of this — and it’s always men — boundaries are your own behaviors that you control. You can not control someone else’s behavior, that’s called manipulation and abuse.

And on top of all this, Zoey 101 actress Alexa Nikolas came forward in the wake of this whole mess to say that Hill assaulted her at a party when she was 16 and he was 24.

You can read the entire story on her Twitter thread or at the link above. Hill denies the allegations.

Anyway, his people probably should have pulled this merch from his site:

And then there’s Keke Palmer’s baby daddy who is an ass and went and showed how much of one for all the world to see.

Oh, and Halle Bailey’s boyfriend …

And Bebe Rexa’s …

There’s this person, Colleen Ballinger, better known on YouTube as “Miranda Sings,” and I haven’t thought about her in over a decade. Anyway, she’s in trouble now for being inappropriate with her young fan base, she’s lawyered up and made a weird “apology” song-video that didn’t actually include an apology and now her tour dates are being canceled. Good. Stop being such a creep with your young fans, lady.

Jane Adams has told “feminists” to go fuck themselves for criticizing the toxic environment on the set of The Idol. I mean … OK?

A presenter at the BBC — their main primetime anchor, Huw Edwards — has been accused of paying a teenager tens of thousands of pounds for sexually explicit photographs. The story is pretty wild: The Sun published the story in early July that an unnamed presenter paid this teen and that the teen’s mother complained to the BBC back in May, claiming that the teen was buying crack with the money. The BBC responded by saying that they were investigating the charges, but they didn’t name the presenter in question for obvious legal reasons. This, however, forced a bunch of BBC personalities to have to preemptively defend themselves, insisting that they were not the presenter in question. And then there are a bunch of questions about Edwards bullying his coworkers and whether or not he reached out to a second teenager on a dating site … it’s a mess.

Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics sports doctor who assaulted countless gymnasts, was stabbed in the back in prison. He’s in stable condition unfortunately.

Allison Mack has been released from prison after serving two years of her three-year prison sentence for being a cult weirdo.

Elton John testified on Kevin Spacey’s behalf in his sexual assault case in London. Ugh.

STOP THROWING THINGS AT PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE PERFORMING. What is wrong with you people?
