‘The Many Saints of Newark,’ ‘La Brea,’ ‘Saturday Night Live’ and everything else you don’t want to miss on TV this week

MONDAY

The Good Doctor: Shaun and Lea celebrate their engagement in the season premiere. 9 p.m., ABC

Citizen Kane: Orson Wells’ masterpiece and what some incorrectly label the best movie of all time, as if they’ve never even seen The Godfather. 7 p.m., TCM

American Experience: Citizen Hearst: The first of a two-part look into William Randolph Hearst’s life. As you can see above, TCM is also airing Citizen Kane, which, of course, is a thinly-veiled depiction of Hearst’s life, so I wondered if there was some sort of anniversary related to Hearst happening today, and the answer is … a resounding, NOPE. Just a coincidence.  8 p.m., PBS

TUESDAY

La Brea: A giant sinkhole opens up in the middle of Los Angeles, dropping hundreds of people into some sort of parallel world, and maybe there are dinosaurs? I don’t know. All I know is that you terrorists are making me watch it and write about it. (Still, it looks better than Ordinary Joe, which just … woof.) Series premiere. 8 p.m., NBC

Bachelor in Paradise: WHY IS THIS ON FOR THREE HOURS. 7 p.m., ABC

Vanderpump Rules: These shiny ding dongs are back. Season premiere. 8 p.m., Bravo

Britney vs. Spears: If there is some corner of the Britney Spears saga that you think remains unexplored, here’s another documentary about it. Premiere. Netflix

Attack of the Hollywood Clichés!: Rob Lowe hosts this special that looks at well-worn Hollywood tropes. Premiere. Netflix

WEDNESDAY

Problem with Jon Stewart: Jon Stewart is back on TV with this new series in which he does a deep dive into a single issue every other week in this new series. So, sorta like Last Week Tonight or The Problem with Wyatt Cenac? Series premiere. Apple TV+

Big Brother: A winner is chosen. Season finale. 8 p.m., CBS

THURSDAY

Ted Lasso: Season two of the best comedy on television comes to an end, unfortunately. Season finale. Apple TV+

Station 19: The Phoenix Festival creates problems for the station in the season premiere and crossover event with Grey’s Anatomy. 7 p.m., ABC

Grey’s Anatomy: Illegal fireworks, man. Season premiere. 8 p.m., ABC

Big Sky: Jenny accepts an offer to rejoin the force but is reunited with Cassie by a strange accident. Season premiere.  9 p.m., ABC

The Price is Right at Night: Happy 50 years, Price is Right! 8 p.m., CBS

Queenpins: Kristen Bell and Kirby Howell-Baptiste star in this film based on a true story about two women who created a counterfeit coupon scheme, and Vince Vaughn is the man hunting them down. Premiere. Paramount+

The Way Down: This documentary explores the Christian weight-loss cult headed by Gwen Shamblin that suggested you could pray the weight away. Premiere. HBO Max

Unidentified with Demi Lovato: Demi Lovato searches for the truth about UFOs in this new limited series. Premiere. Peacock

The Many Saints of Newark: The formative years of one Tony Soprano. Premiere. HBO Max

Magnum P.I.: Magnum is tasked with finding a single mother who is being hunted by two dangerous gangs. Season premiere. 8 p.m., CBS

Blue Bloods: Danny consults a psychic about the murder of a young boy in the season premiere. 9 p.m., CBS

Dynasty: Season finale. 8 p.m., The CW

Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales: Poe and BB-8 must face their fears in Graballa the Hutt’s creepy castle in this new special. Premiere. Disney+
