Before we get started with today’s TV news, I just wanted to take a moment to give a thought to the victims of Hurricane Helene. Those of us here on the Gulf Coast know well the devastation a strong hurricane can wreak, and I know all of our hearts go out to the victims in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. I especially feel for those folks whose entire towns were washed away or are trapped on mountains and hills, unable to access food, medicine, aid of any kind … I hope they all receive help quickly, and can piece their lives back together again soon.

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
CBS has released the rules for tomorrow night’s Vice Presidential Debate: their mics will not be muted; there will be no audience; and, worst of all, the moderators will not be doing any fact-checking, which is some bullshit.
Reportedly, Hoda Kotb’s exit from The Today Show was because NBC wanted to cut her $20 million salary. The real question is: who will take her place and how much will it shakeup morning TV?
Anna Delvey is STILL bitching about Dancing with the Stars, complaining that they were “exploiting” her. I mean, yeah, that’s kinda the point of the show, ma’am.
Jesse Palmer is in favor of Golden Paradise, and thinks that Jack and Susan would make a great couple. I’m personally rooting for Gary and Natascha.
The controversy over Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez story keeps chugging along. The Menendez family released a statement calling it a “phobic, gross, anachronistic, serial episodic nightmare.”
This is the official response from Joan VanderMolen (Erik’s Aunt) and the Menendez Family to the Netflix Series” “Monsters, the Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” and to Ryan Murphy.#Menendez #NetflixMonsters #RyanMurphy pic.twitter.com/o7KEOEoYwr
— Tammi Menendez (@TammiMenendez1) September 26, 2024
Ryan Murphy’s response was basically, “NUH UH.”
“The family’s response is predictable at best.
“I find it interesting because I would like specifics about what they think is shocking or not shocking. It’s not like we’re making any of this stuff up. It’s all been presented before. What we’re doing is we’re the first to present it in one contained ecosystem. What’s grotesque about it?” Murphy questioned. “Tammi [and] the family, they have always done this and they did this recently — they say, ‘lies after lies’ — but then they don’t say what the lies are. They don’t back up anything.”
(Having watched the series, I will give Murphy this: while the series is certainly salacious, it really does attempt to cover all sides of the story, and present all theories — even the more outrageous ones — on the case. The boys go from deeply suspicious to sympathetic at breakneck speed; they are not one-dimensional. I understand the family being upset by the portrayal as it’s not an entirely glowing one, but I genuinely do think Murphy and his team tried their best to be fair.)
And if you have seen the series, here Cooper Koch, who plays Erik Menendez, opens up about THAT episode which was filmed in one take. It was a remarkable performance in a problematic series. Even Erik himself has heard it is good.
H’oh BOY: Joel Kim Booster, the host of the upcoming Love Hotel series on Bravo, had a LOT to say about contestant and Real Housewife Shannon Beador, calling her a “pathetic drunk” and accusing her of mistreating the crew in a series of Instagram stories. The posts have since been taken down, but the internet is FOREVER.
Allegedly, Joel Kim Booster is the host of Love Hotel – the Housewives spinoff featuring Shannon Beador – and Joel had *plenty* to say about Shannon 💀

The Baby Reindeer lawsuit is moving forward.
Ellen DeGeneres is now stealing jokes from Conan.
It’s sounding more and more like Eddie Murphy was the host on SNL that made everyone cry.
In honor of SNL‘s 50th season, here are what the critics thought of the first.
I’d rather not think about the Brady Bunch kids hooking up, THANKS.
Warner Bros. Discovery strikes again: this time, they’re putting CNN.com content behind a paywall — which, look, I work online, I GET IT, but it’s also a bummer.
Heads up, General Hospital fans: Tuesday and Wednesday’s episodes are going to be preempted by baseball.
Oh my God, they’re doing a Boys‘ pop-up event as a hamburger joint called … “Vought A Burger.” VOUGHT A BURGER.
The end of Outlander is upon us.
Drive to Survive Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton has opened up about suffering from depression.
Congratulations, Rebel Wilson and Ramona Arguma!
Congratulations, Colton Underwood and Jordan C. Brown!
Congratulations, Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk! As for us Gen Xers, I regret to inform you that we are all grandparents now.

Finally, more Maggie Smith remembrances that came in after I posted last week:
Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is among those paying tribute to Smith, releasing the following statement: “Maggie Smith was a truly great actress and we were more than fortunate to be part of the last act in her stellar career. She was a joy to write for, subtle, many-layered, intelligent, funny and heart-breaking. Working with her has been the greatest privilege of my career, and I will never forget her.”
Michelle Dockery, who portrayed Lady Mary Crowley, said in a statement provided to Deadline: “There was no one quite like Maggie. I feel tremendously lucky to have known such a maverick. She will be deeply missed and my thoughts are with her family.”
“When I was younger I had no idea of Maggie’s legend – the woman I was fortunate enough to share space with. It is only as I’ve become an adult that I’ve come to appreciate that I shared the screen with a true definition of greatness,” [Emma] Watson wrote over a photo of the pair on set of one of the Harry Potter films. “She was real, honest, funny and self-honoring. Maggie, there were a lot of male professors and by God you held your own. Thank you for all of your kindness. I’ll miss you.”
Saddened to hear Dame Maggie Smith has passed. I had the unforgettable experience of working with her; sharing a two-shot was like being paired with a lion. She could eat anyone alive, and often did. But funny, and great company. And suffered no fools. We will never see another.… pic.twitter.com/wjJCL7FqWf
