The best antidote to what we’ve endured this past week would be to stream some Bob Newhart this weekend

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

I’m not going to spend a lot of time talking about the finale of the Republican National Convention and Former President Hannibal Lecter’s incredibly long, weird, and somehow boring speech. I’ll just leave a few reviews here and call it a day.

Variety: Donald Trump Became a Reality TV Star Again With His Rambling Convention Speech

The Hollywood Reporter: Critic’s Notebook: Donald Trump Returns to Bad Form — and Gives the Democrats Hope

The New York Times: Donald Trump Promised a Softer Image. He Delivered Hulkamania.

Stephen Colbert, who broadcast live following the speech, called it “deeply, psychotically weird” and he’s not wrong.

With the sad news of Bob Newhart’s passing (see below), a recounting of the greatest series finale ever. And if you didn’t like it? “OK.”

Here’s where you can stream some of Bob Newhart’s best shows and movies.

Asking the important questions.

Elaine Stritch was a queen and if she wanted to keep her wardrobe, SHE GETS TO KEEP HER WARDROBE.

The head writer of Days of Our Lives for the past seven years, Ron Carlivati, is leaving the show effectively immediately. WHAT’S GOING ON THERE?

Teresa Giudice doing some shady shit???!? Who could imagine!

Love is dead.

Apple is considering adding other studios’ movies and shows to Apple TV+ to fill out the streamer a bit. It’s currently a great streaming service, offering some fantastic shows and films, but barely anyone subscribes to it.

The bad news is we’re not getting another season of Fargo anytime soon. The good news is it sounds like we will be getting another season of Fargo at some point, which wasn’t necessarily a given.

Sounds like we’ve dodged another strike.

Isabella Strahan is officially cancer-free, thank goodness.

R.I.P.

Bob Newhart, TV comedy icon and star of The Bob Newhart Show, and Newhart among others (and he got his comedy start in Houston).

“For years I begged Bob to appear on one of my shows.  He always said no.  But then he fell in love with The Big Bang Theory and said yes – with two provisions.  One: his character had to have an arc that spanned several episodes.  And two:  he wanted to win an Emmy.  We delivered on both.  I got to work with a comedy legend. A master of the craft, and a kind and gentle man.  I even got to call him a friend.  How lucky am I?”— Chuck Lorre

Lou Dobbs, Former host of Lou Dobbs Tonight and conservative commentator on CNN and Fox

Whitney Rydbeck, Actor who appeared in many movies and TV shows including The Brady Bunch, Lassie, Monster Squad, Rocky II, M*A*S*H, Battle Beyond the Stars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Murder, She Wrote, 3rd Rock from the Sun, 7th Heaven,  Party of Five, and Scrubs

Cheng-Pei-pei, Chinese actress and martial arts icon who appeared in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Yvonne Furneaux, Actress who appeared in La Dolce Vita, Repulsion and more

Christina Sandera, Clint Eastwood’s companion for the past decade
