HI! I’M BACK! Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Charles Barkley announced he’s retiring from the NBA after the 2024-2025 season, in large part because Warner Bros. Discovery is refusing to budge on renewal talks and Barkley’s TNT series is under threat. So one more loss thanks to David Fucking Zaslav. Way to go, dipshit.

Kenya Moore has been suspended from The Real Housewives of Atlanta indefinitely after allegedly distributing revenge porn of new cast member Brittany Eady.

I’m going to save up some pieces about House of the Dragon for later in the week, but until then, it sounds like the showrunners heard that it was too damn dark and fixed it.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus doesn’t have time for Jerry Seinfeld’s whining and I’m here for it.

If you look back on comedy and drama both, let’s say 30 years ago, through the lens of today, you might find bits and pieces that don’t age well. And I think to have an antenna about sensitivities is not a bad thing. It doesn’t mean that all comedy goes out the window as a result. When I hear people starting to complain about political correctness — and I understand why people might push back on it — but to me that’s a red flag, because it sometimes means something else. I believe being aware of certain sensitivities is not a bad thing.

Here are the rules for the June 27th Presidential Debate on CNN that are certainly not going to happen. There will be two commercial breaks; no props, no pre-written notes; there will be no audience, and most importantly, the microphones will be muted except for when it is the candidate’s turn to speak.

The Daily Show out here doing the good work: getting people registered to vote and dogs adopted.

Happy Pride Month to the entire LGBTQ+ community, Marlon Wayans, and Doctor Who. BUT NOT YOU, JAMES MAY. YOU SIT DOWN AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID.

Nick Kroll isn’t closing the door on more Big Mouth one day. (Which in its own way is something of a non-story because the door is never shut on more story of any series, as we well know.)

The Pope hosted 100 comedians at the Vatican this past weekend.

Will Smith argues that prestige TV is responsible for people no longer going to the movies — that the stories they can watch in their own homes are so good now that people are unwilling to go to the theater. While I see his point and don’t necessarily disagree with it, I would add that another factor is actually the quality of the TV sets we have now: flat, LCD screens are so far and away superior to older models, that we don’t feel the need to go to a movie theater for that visual experience.

Jon Stewart clarified his departure from Apple TV+: It wasn’t censorship; their goals and intentions just didn’t align. That said:

“There’s a mantra we all have to remember: Corporations are pussies.”

“They are now, and they always have been. They’re not looking to cause problems,” Stewart continued. “I worked on Comedy Central, their lawyers were constantly under the threat of advertiser boycotts. Comedy Central’s brand was provocation, to some extent. And so that was for the most part positive for them. Most content companies don’t want that smoke.”

This little story about A Million Little Things, an interview, and a simple question is so lovely and pure. And going forward, I’m going to use this question when talking to someone who is grieving.

Ted Danson and the rest of the cast of Cheers hazed poor Woody Harrelson when he started on the series, but it didn’t work out for them.

Kevin Costner is still yapping about Yellowstone.

Tubi is more popular than Disney+, Max, Peacock and Paramount+.

Werner Herzog and David Lynch have never been more Werner Herzog and David Lynch.

I have zero beef with this list of TCA nominees.

Here are the winners of this year’s Daytime Emmys. GO ON WITH YOUR BAD SELF, DICK VAN DYKE!

I’m not a Broadway person, but I’m sure some of you are, so here’s a roundup of the best and worst moments from last night’s Tony’s ceremony.

Nick Pasqual, the actor who has been accused of attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, makeup artist Allie Shehorn after brutally stabbing her multiple times, has been extradited from Texas back to California to face charges. GOOD.

Please don’t threaten the BBC journalists, guys.

Ooooh … is Morgan returning to General Hospital?

Speaking of General Hospital, welcome back John J. York! Now stay healthy!

Get well soon, Justin Baldoni!

Love is dead. Again.
