Pat Sajak takes A F_NAL SP_N

“Roxanne,” but it’s just “Rocks.”

Sure it could use a little polish, but I wouldn’t take it for granite if I were you. šŸŖØšŸšŸ’Ž #sirmousecot #thedragonshoard #rockshop #gemshop #rocks #roxanne #whimsy #shenaningans #shastarenaissancefaire

Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News

Today’s episode of Wheel of Fortune is Pat Sajak’s last after more than 40 years.

Mr. Sajak, it is probably worth remembering, has been with viewers through seven presidents, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, both the AIDS and the Covid pandemics, the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the 2008 financial crash and, oh, the Kardashians. Not incidentally, he has outlasted the internet’s incursions into broadcast television’s long-held primacy.

As great as Pat is as a host — and he was a perfect game show host: friendly without being smarmy — it was his chemistry with Vanna White that made the show a classic.

Vanna White gave an emotional goodbye on yesterday’s episode:

ā€œI can’t believe that tomorrow is our last show together. I don’t know how to put into words what these past 41 years have meant to me, but I’m going to try. Eight-thousand episodes went by like that,ā€ White said in the video. ā€œWhen I first started, I was so green. You made me so comfortable, and made me so confident, Pat. You made me who I am. You really did.

“As the years have gone by, we’ve grown up on television. But we’ve also shared so much more behind the scenes. As much fun as we had on camera, those memories, milestones and life events we shared with our families outside the studio are my favorite. We’ve watched our children grow up together, we’ve traveled all over the world, we’ve eaten hundreds of meals together, we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve celebrated…. Gosh, what an incredible and unforgettable journey we’ve had, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it with you. As this chapter of our lives is coming to an end, I know you’ll still be close by. You’re like a brother to me, and I consider you a true, life-long friend who I will always adore. I love you, Pat.”

Pat had his own message for fans on this final episode:

ā€œIt’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade. And I’ve always felt that the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe place for family fun. No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope — just a game.

ā€œBut gradually, it became more than that. A place where kids learn their letters, where people from other countries hone their English skills, where families came together along with friends, and neighbors, and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.ā€

Here’s a look back at his time on the show by the numbers and some of the more memorable moments.

As for what Pat is going to do next? Local theater.

Ryan Seacrest will become host next fall with Vanna White still turning those letters. But you know who they should really bring back?

But The Price is Right isn’t about to let Wheel of Fortune take the entire spotlight today. This just happened this morning:

Fiona Harvey has pulled the trigger on that lawsuit against Netflix over Baby Reindeer, asking for $170 million for “defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence and violations of her right of publicity.”

In response (or maybe just remarkably coincidental timing), Netflix has released Jessica Gunning’s audition reel:

Eric Kripke has revealed how they are going to handle Chance Perdomo’s death on Gen V. (Slight spoilers, I guess.)

Sounds like Teresa Giudice might be in money trouble again, and married to another financially irresponsible man. Guess she has a type.

I kept reading about this moment between Jennifer Aniston and Quinta Brunson, but it is something entirely else to see it happen. BUT ALSO, DON’T MAKE HER ASK THAT:

In keeping with the format of the series, True Detective season five will feature ā€œdifferent characters,ā€ a ā€œdifferent settingā€ and a ā€œdifferent story.ā€

THE GASP I GASPED:

It’s always satisfying to read a story about Rob Schneider being booed off a stage, but who’s the genius who booked a famous anti-vaxxer to perform at a hospital event?

Congratulations to Gabourey Sidibe and Brandon Frankel!
