David Zaslav is trying to destroy Warner Bros. Discovery’s relationship with the NBA, because that’s who he is, and Charles Barkley is hella pissed about it. The NBA used to have a safe home at TNT, but now that renegotiations are underway, David Zaslav is saying that his company “doesn’t need the NBA.” Which is an interesting position to take when every other streaming company is furiously buying up live sports events, but go on, sir.
Netflix has released a comprehensive viewership report for the second half of 2023, and the ten most popular series were:

- The CW has pulled Lovers and Liars off the schedule. This poor series lost so much of what made it fun in its original FBoy Island form on Max when it moved to network TV, so this is hardly surprising.
- High School has been canceled at Freeform after one season.
- Still Up has been canceled at Apple TV+ after one season.

So this doesn’t have anything to do with your post, but I thought you’d like to know that my college daughter has spent the last couple of weeks since finals ended watching “Game of Thrones” for the first time. She’s in Season Six right now, and called me today to discuss Jon Snow’s murder and reanimation, Cersei’s walk of shame, Stannis’ death, and so on. She first called to tell me about it when she started, and at my suggestion has called every few days after she experiences “another WTF moment”. We had a loooong call after the Red Wedding.
She’s into it, I’ve loved the conversations we’ve had, and I pointed her to a recent House of R podcast where the hosts discuss looking back at the finale five years later. I’ve also convinced her to start watching “House of the Dragon” when she’s done here. It’s gonna be a good summer.
I love this so much! I’ve only been able to convince my younger son to watch ‘Game of Thrones’ but he was ALL IN, and has read all the books, and watched ‘House of the Dragon.’ The older son, I’m afraid, is a lost cause — at least when it comes to ‘GoT.’ He loves ‘The Boys’ which I can not for the life of me convince the younger to give a chance. But it’s so fun when your kids are old enough to enjoy the shows that you love.
