Disney and Charter/Spectrum ended their carriage slap fight yesterday, just in time for football fans to see Aaron Rodgers blow out his Achilles tendon and probably his career.

The deal that Disney and Charter came to is an interesting one: Charter/Spectrum cable customers will now have free access to Disney+, but ESPN+ will be available on a premium package. Most notably, Spectrum cable will no longer carry many channels, including Freeform, FXX, Disney Junior, Disney XD, FXM, Baby TV, Nat Geo Wild, and Nat Geo Mundo. Those will be available through Hulu, which will require a subscription.

What does that mean about the future for those eight networks? Disney is reassuring employees of those networks that they are still committed to them, and layoffs are not imminent. Meanwhile, FX is trying to figure out a way to make the final season of Archer available to cable subscribers, which just began the night before the carriage dispute began. What a mess. 

Some strike business:

NBCU has suspended their deals with Lorne Michaels and Dwayne Johnson’s production companies; CBS Studios has suspended theirs with Phil McGraw and DeVon Franklin.

Meanwhile, many daytime talk shows are returning to filming, including The Talk, and The Jennifer Hudson Show, though The Drew Barrymore Show continues to take the brunt of the strikers’ anger.

And over at Jeopardy!, technically Ken Jennings isn’t a scab, but that’s not going to change a lot of people’s feelings.

The tradition of the Fall TV Previews the networks usually air to get people excited about their new schedules have been scrapped this year.

Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg have donated $1.5 million to support the strikers.

They’re turning Murder, She Wrote into a movie, and I just hope it gets The Brady Bunch high-camp treatment.

Speaking of The Brady Bunch: HGTV sold the restored Brady Bunch house at a loss.

H’oh boy, this Danny Masterson mess. First the good news: Masterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison for two counts of rape.

At the sentencing, Masterson’s survivors read letters to the judge, asserting, “Our lives were destroyed.” You can read all three letters here.

Ahead of Masterson’s sentencing hearing, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, among a number of other That 70s Show actors — excluding Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderrama, and Laura Prepon — wrote letters of support for Masterson, calling him a “role model” who has an “exceptional character.”

This did not go well for them.

One of Masterson’s survivors, Chrissie Bixler, responded by posting old clips of “interviews with Ashton Kutcher in which he revealed Masterson bet him $10 to French kiss a then-14-year-old Mila Kunis when Kutcher was 19.”

Bixler also posted a cryptic message about Kutcher and Kunis. The reference to February 21, 2001 appears to be related to the murder of Kutcher’s then-friend/girlfriend, Ashley Ellerin. It’s a whole rabbit hole and a VERY speculative one, so proceed cautiously.

Christina Ricci seemingly posted a message explaining why giving support to rapists isn’t a great thing:

So Kutcher and Kunis released an apology video, but it … isn’t great.

On a recent Saved by the Bell rewatch podcast, Mark-Paul Gosselaar talked about how difficult some episodes are to watch back, including one in which his character mistreats Lisa: “There was one where I was basically whoring out Lisa Turtle. I charged people to kiss her without her consent, that was a tough one.” He went on to say, “There’s things that you just would not film nowadays. There are things every single episode that we could pick out. At that point, you try not to be negative. It’s a watch party… It’s a tightrope walk. Overall, you try to be positive about the work and say ‘that was a different time.’”

Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales has finally resigned after kissing soccer player Jeni Hermoso against her will. He made the announcement on Piers Morgan’s show which checks out.

57-year-old Dance Moms villain Abby Lee Miller made a joke about being attracted to high school football players, and people are real mad. Maybe read the room, lady.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have put pitcher Julio Urias on administrative leave abobblehead a bobble-head night in his honor after he was arrested on felony domestic abuse charges.

  1. 100% in on Fall of the House of Usher. But at this point, I’m all in on whatever Flanagan wants to make. Also jsut saw a preview for Pet Sematary on Paramount+ that looks worth a watch.
