Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
The writers have voted to strike. Here’s to hoping they can come to terms with the studios before May 1, but it’s doubtful. We won’t see an immediate effect on most TV shows and movies, but late night talk shows and live variety shows like Saturday Night Live will go dark immediately. Stay tuned.
The Fox News/Dominion Voting Systems trial began today after one last attempt to settle yesterday went nowhere. (Good. Stick to your guns, Dominion.) Deadline has a good explainer about the case if you want to know more.
Ron DeSantis is now threatening to build a prison near Walt Disney World as part of his war on business and capitalism. Disney’s response: Pride Nites. Look, I don’t love Disney, but I am TEAM GAY MOUSE all the way.
The first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is coming to @Disneyland during Pride Month in June! This separately ticketed event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community & allies will have themed entertainment, Disney characters, specialty menu items & more: https://t.co/Y6vOJ3QXms pic.twitter.com/j97sB1kHod

Wow. Ron DeSantis messed with Disney & it's not working. Right after DeSantis said he'll build a prison next to Disney today, they announced they'll be launching Pride Nite which will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community & allies. Disney shows us exactly how to respond to a bully.

Amazon is going to allow you to turn the volume up on specifically the dialogue on Prime Video, thank goodness. I’ve taken to watching most movies and shows with captions on because the background noise can be so overwhelming. PAY ATTENTION, EVERYONE ELSE.
CBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Company, is the latest news source to pause its presence on Twitter.
Wait, did The Mandalorian sneak in an F-Bomb? Listen carefully for “I’m out, motherfucker.” I hear it.
Still no squeezie!

The reviews of Mrs. Davis are coming in and, y’all, I. Am. Excited.
OK, more about that Love is Blind reunion: First of all, having now watched it, it was a disaster, and not just for technological reasons. Vanessa Lachey was weirdly, grossly obsessed with a “Love is Blind baby” and kept demanding to know from the contestants when they would have one. Additionally, she picked on both Paul and Marshall for Micah and Jackie’s bad behavior, and repeatedly cut people off while they were talking. People were not amused.
Besides the delay, the worst part of the Love Is Blind reunion was Vanessa Lachey pressuring all of the couples to have babies. Everyone knows to be delicate around motherhood & fertility issues except Vanessa Lachey on "LIVE" national TV apparently.
— Vanessa Santos (@Vanessasantosxo) April 17, 2023
#LoveIsBlind the reunion is always nauseating to watch because of Vanessa Lachey. She picks sides, cuts people off, bullies the male cast, pushes motherhood onto women, and generally tries way too hard to be cool. Netflix please just let Nik do this solo😭
— Ashlyn Avery (@AshlynAvery4) April 17, 2023
Reasons to get rid of Vanessa Lachey:
1. Her weird baby obsession
2. Gushing over Jackie and Josh 🤮
3. Not dragging Jackie for keeping the ring. #TeamMarshall
4. No heat for Shelby? (Unless I missed this part having to watch live stream on TIKTOK.)— Nuchtweets 🌻 (@nuchtweets) April 17, 2023
This reunion just feels so awkward. Doesn’t seem like there is any flow, hosts way too biased, it’s just weird. #LoveIsBlind
— Mikkia (@MikkiaLeniece) April 17, 2023
do you think Nick and Vanessa Lachey sleep with one eye open knowing these two should have their job #LoveisBlind #LoveIsBlindS4 pic.twitter.com/aSMNJEU37v
— T (@trinawatters) April 15, 2023
Now, a lot of the problems with the reunion can be attributed to it being live instead of pre-taped over hours and edited. Andy Cohen, who has led countless reunion episodes, explains that a reunion needs massaging, people need time to open up. It’s very insightful:

As for what went wrong on the technical side, this TikToker says it’s the heads of Netflix:
@nitetoast The #netflix Corporate Gossip is jucier than any reality TV show #loveisblind #corporategossip #nitetoast
She has a point.
#MeToo
When The White Lotus came back last season with F. Murray Abraham in the cast, I made a passing comment to my husband about how he had been fired from Fall of the House of Usher for being sexually inappropriate on set. I was confused — I was thinking of Frank Langella — and then I felt bad for slandering the good name of F. Murray Abraham, even in private. WELP. Turns out, Abraham himself was fired from Mythic Quest after multiple actresses brought accusations of inappropriate behavior to show creator Rob McElhenney’s attention. God dammit. HEY, MEN, ALL MEN, EVEN THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE OVER 70 AND RESPECTED IN THE BUSINESS: CUT IT OUT.
Jonathan Majors was just dropped by his manager and PR firm, so.
Beef, which is a huge hit on Netflix right now, is being called out by some viewers, who point out that actor David Choe bragged on his 2014 podcast “Erection Quest,” that he was a “successful rapist,” after forcing a masseuse to give him oral sex: “The thrill of possibly going to jail, you know, that’s what achieved the erection quest,” he reportedly said. He described the incident as “rapey behavior” but claims he’s not a rapist. “She’s not into it but she’s not stopping it either,” he says in the clip.
Choe has since used copyright claims to demand that Twitter take down the clips that two writers had posted.
David Choe wrote to Twitter to get the video I posted of him talking about the woman he says he raped taken down on copyright grounds.
He claims his *nonprofit* owns the copyright to the video of him talking about the alleged rape. pic.twitter.com/6IaSXTOeQ1

Instead of coming out and condemning and even saying she was unaware Ali wong just went private that says all I need go know. Wanted to watch beef but won’t be now https://t.co/VffKeIKC85 pic.twitter.com/9A2NVU9Vnv

Danny Masterson has gone back to court on three separate rape charges after a mistrial last year.
Roy Rosselló, a former member of Menudo, has come forward to say that Jose Menendez, the father of the Menendez brothers, sexually abused him as a teenager. This is interesting because the brothers’ defense in their murder trial was that they had been sexually abused by their father for years, and that they killed him and their mother out of fear.
Oh, what do you know but Ali Alexander, the organizer of “Stop the Steal,” has apologized after being accused of soliciting nude photos of underage boys.
Singer Melissa Schuman is suing Nick Carter for sexual assault. Carter is countersuing for defamation.
Maitland Ward, who co-starred on Boy Meets World, says that girls were “treated like meat” by the Disney “machine” and claims that she was asked to try on lingerie for male producers.
13 women have accused French actor Gérard Depardieu of sexually inappropriate behavior.
The woman Roman Polanski raped when she was 13 gave an interview to Polanski’s wife in which she claims it was no big deal and that the #MeToo movement exploits women’s pain. Yeah, that’s not actually helpful.
Madison De La Garza, who played Eva Longoria’s daughter on Desperate Housewives is speaking out about the bullying she received over her weight, and how it led to an eating disorder.
Brooke Shields and Drew Barrymore had a frank and nuanced conversation on Drew’s show about complicated their feelings are about contributing to the #MeToo movement, having both been so young when inappropriate things happened to them:
this is the side of #metoo that isn’t discussed enough.
in order for us to participate and have the conversation we first have to deconstruct our life and acknowledge the horrible things that happened that we thought were “normal”
speaking up is never, ever free. https://t.co/4O0bUmKDQL
