Here’s A BUNCH OF TV News
Better Call Saul ended last night, but since I was busy watching The Bachelorette (~sigh~) I have yet to watch it. And since I know some of you must be in the same boat, the only thing I’m going to post about it is Bob Odenkirk’s emotional thank you to the fans and the show:

She-Hulk is getting great early word-of-mouth, by the way. Considering how much people were shitting on the CGI, having critics out here calling it the “best Marvel Disney Plus show so far” is pretty high praise.
Tatiana Maslany fires back at the “strong female lead” category of film and TV, calling it “reductive”: “It’s just as much a shaving off of all the nuances, and just as much of a trope. It’s a box that nobody fits into. Even the phrase is frustrating. It’s as if we’re supposed to be grateful that we get to be that.” And you know what? She’s not wrong. It’s not like we designate certain characters “strong male leads,” after all.
Sadly unsurprisingly, people are being little bitches about the diversity in the A League of Their Own series and Abbi Jacobson is NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR BULLSHIT OPINIONS.
2/2 – I have seen a lot of people angry and mad at our inclusion of more experiences (POC, QWOC, queer) and that anger (aka fear) has only made me more sure about why this reimagining needed to be made. Why representation matters so much. – Abbi https://t.co/b2QDNoPEER

BREAKING: The White Lotus season two will not be the exact same story as The White Lotus season one.
So yesterday’s news about Nexstar’s takeover of The CW included a fact that I read, and my brain completely rejected. But according to Nexstar, The CW’s average viewer is … 58 years old. The AVERAGE age. I reject this. I absolutely reject that I, a middle-aged woman, is somehow BRINGING DOWN the average age of CW viewers.
The bottom line is that though The CW’s programming skews young, actual young people tend to watch those shows on streaming services instead of broadcast TV, so it is possible that older people are watching it on broadcast. But if they’re watching … why take away what they’re enjoying?

Life comes at you fast. One day, you're in your 20s, the next, The CW tells you you're apparently 58. https://t.co/GF0d65durq

I like to think the CW’s audience is like 99.99999% teenagers, and there’s just this one man whose like 7,000 years old that’s just completely throwing off the average https://t.co/qlvzPfjnGx

Paramount+ will be bundled with Walmart+ which is apparently going to be a thing?
The head of CNBC is stepping down after 17 years, if you care.
Tonight, Alex Wagner takes over the Tuesday-Friday 8/9 p.m. slot on MSNBC which used to be The Rachel Maddow Show. Wagner (who I have admired on The Circus on Showtime), promises that Alex Wagner Tonight will be a “different show.” The Rachel Maddow Show still airs on Mondays in the 8/9 slot.

Apparently, someone on Ezra Miller’s team has gathered them up, because Miller just released a statement saying that they are seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.” There had been a ton of speculation about the fate of the DC film, The Flash, after Miller’s on-going run-ins with the law. Reportedly, they reshot some scenes while Miller was evading the law, which is particularly interesting in the wake of Warner Bros. Discovery’s shelving of Batgirl. “A source close to the studio says that Warner Bros. supports Miller’s decision to seek professional help.” LOL YA THINK? ARE WE SURE WARNER BROS. DIDN’T ACTUALLY KIDNAP THEM THEMSELVES?
In the wake of Jennette McCurdy’s best-selling memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, in which she revealed how creepy Dan Schneider, the creator of iCarly was, and her complicated relationship with Ariana Grande, a 2019 YouTube video entitled “Ariana Grande being sexualized on Victorious for 2 minutes straight” went viral. This was a kid’s show, guys. I’m beyond disgusted.
remember that episode of victorious and they were all locked in that rv? these scenes with cat all felt very uncomfortable too. pic.twitter.com/qZPwgRMNwf

Millie Bobby Brown has spoken out against a TikToker who claims he “groomed” her when she was 16 and he was 20, and hopes that other young women be aware of the “wrong decisions” she made. She also discussed the fact that one casting director told her when she was 10 that she was “too mature” and would never get work. DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILDREN IN SHOWBUSINESS, JESUS.
More people have come out against Sean Bean’s dumb comments about intimacy coordinators, including Emma Thompson who calls them “fantastically important”; Amanda Seyfried, who wishes she had intimacy coordinators to protect her when she was 19 and agreeing to being naked to keep her job; and Interview with the Vampire star, Sam Reid who called it “important” and added, “I think it treats those scenes more like a stunt scene or a fight scene, so they’re choreographed as well as trying to keep some spontaneity in it.” I will note that Sam Reid is one of the first men I’ve seen speak out in favor of intimacy coordinators, and point out that the sex scenes he filmed involved two men. My point is, I’d be interested in Sean Bean’s thoughts on intimacy coordinators if he were suddenly required to film a homosexual sex scene.
WWE found an addition $5 million in payouts to women from Vince McMahon, bringing the payouts to nearly $20 million. Jesus, what was he doing with them? You know what? I take it back. I don’t want to know.
Angelina Jolie has sued the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act to find out why an investigation into Brad Pitt was closed after allegations of physical assault in 2016. Y’all, I can not take another Johnny Depp/Amber Heard case …
Singer Michelle Branch discovered that her husband, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, was having an affair with his manager while she was home with their 6-month-old, according to this now deleted tweet:
i will go to war for michelle branch pic.twitter.com/Xf7ie7UJD5
— ilana kaplan (@lanikaps) August 12, 2022
That same night, she was arrested for domestic assault for slapping Carney “one to two times” during an argument. She’s since filed for divorce. And I’m just going to walk away from this without comment, because it could get me in trouble for being a huge hypocrite.

1) I’ve only watched the first 2 eps but I like ALOTO. The characters are likeable and well-played (well, one exception but he is well-played), their story arcs are interesting, and I love Max’s mom.
2) If you bring the CW average down I send it up again. I’m not 7000 yet but I did watch all 30 (this seems low) seasons of Supernatural.
3) Why is Til Death still listed twice?
ACK! I didn’t notice Til Death was on there twice. Complete accident. And now I can’t delete it since people have voted. UGH. So irritated with myself.

On the CW age didn’t one of their shows get a massive bump in viewers after season 1 dropped on Netflix? That would track with older live viewers vs young streamers
All of The CW’s shows get a bump once they move to Netflix. In fact, that was the entire business model. Warner Bros. and CBS/Paramount co-owned The CW and would use it as a place to first broadcast productions from their respective studios before selling the shows to streaming services. The CW was never about making a profit through the network itself, it was all about the down stream. Nexstar doesn’t want to rely on streaming money, so they are going to stop buying expensive teen dramas from the WB and Paramount, and instead rely on cheap reality programming that in theory will appeal to a much older market. We’ll see how well that works out! But this is definitely the death of The CW as we’ve previously known it.
