My Congressman-elect, Dan Crenshaw, went on my local NBC affiliate yesterday to let them know he’s reached out to his improbable Saturday Night Live buddy, Pete Davidson, after Davidson posted a worrisome message on Instagram saying that he doesn’t want to be on Earth anymore:
Yeah, I bet Davidson, who is a successful comedian and has been on Saturday Night Live since he was in his teens just hadn’t tried hard enough to “find his purpose.” Great advice, buddy.
Look, it was an undeniably nice and human gesture on Crenshaw’s part to reach out to someone who was suffering and needed help. And if he had done so privately without running over to KPRC to brag about having done so, I would absolutely have applauded him for it. Admittedly, I wouldn’t probably know about it, but therein lies the rub about true generosity. True generosity means giving to others without expecting anything — including praise or gratitude — in exchange. Maybe I’m cynical and hateful, but this just feels to me like Crenshaw trying to get another taste of that delicious public adoration he received when Pete Davidson made fun of him and he managed to not lash out like an orange-face manbaby.
Tucker Carlson continues to lose advertisers after he said immigrants make our country “dirtier and poorer and more divided.” However, Fox News isn’t losing any money: the advertisers are just moving to other shows, so it’s not like Fox News is going to actually DO anything about that asshole Carlson.
Oh hey, Facebook let Netflix read all of your personal messages, write and delete them, too, so that’s super cool.
For my Sci-fi fans: io9 compiled their list of the best and worst TV moments of 2018. Be warned: it’s kinda spoilery if you haven’t caught up with everything, but then, that’s life on the internet. The Bent-Neck Lady and Rick Grimes both make appearances.
For the soap fans out there: here are 26 actors who left their daytime shows this year, with some information about where they went. I’m still mourning Kiki.
For the cooking show fans: Here’s the art and science behind how they make all that food look so good, and make you feel like you’ve tasted it — even though you certainly did not.
LOL, Dax Shepard got fired from Will & Grace and replaced with Nick Offerman. Hey, Dax, don’t you have a wife with a show on NBC that you could crash?
SEE? I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES CHANNEL ZERO AND THINKS THAT IT IS THE SCARIEST SHOW ON TV. On the one hand, you should be watching this show. On the other hand, if you are scared easily, you should definitely not be watching this show.
Robb Stark is happy to just be a fan of Game of Thrones now and not know what is coming up on the show. In related news, Robb Stark is a fool.
I refuse to accept that this is the final season of Jane the Virgin.
Yeah, Josh Henderson obviously did not burglarize his neighbor’s house after all. (HIs real crime is wearing that Cowboys hat.)

R.I.P.
Penny Marshall, Actress, director, overall badass. Laverne & Shirley was a touchstone for those of us who are children of the seventies and eighties (here’s the story of Laverne’s iconic “L” which, it should be no surprise, was Marshall’s idea), and her work as a director on films like Big and A League of Their Own was groundbreaking. She was a comedy great, and I have to admit, her death was something of a gut punch for your trusty blogger.
MeTV is going to air twelve of Penny Marshall’s favorite episodes of Laverne & Shirley on December 23, and you can watch A League of Their Own for free on Crackle right now.
